Preload at UPS, a morning in the life of a part timer.

00:40
Just me passing some time on preload, I was working the morning shift for some extra hours to pay for the big boy toys! Just thought id let people see what its really like as the boxes come down the belt and the loaders grab what goes to their trucks. I had the semi/bulk truck which runs the mall stops and just outside of the mall. Then the truck right next to it. For those of you who are Abeka home schoolers, you will recognize the small DVD boxes in the trailer. By the end of the morning that had a few hundred boxes everywhere just for returns. I gotta say, I really enjoy working there and I find its fun getting to be called in to do these different jobs from time to time! I hope you guys enjoy the short video!

Storm/Hurricane Friederike with up to 63 Knots Crosswind and 20 go arounds or touch and go

09:12
For me it was the most spectacular filming of aircrafts during a hard and gusty storm with amazing crosswind landings. This storm/hurricane Friederike with up to 63 Knots crosswind at DUS Düsseldorf airport in Germany was the hardest storm after 11 years in Europe/Germany and many airports was closed. Düsseldorf was open all the time, but about 20 planes aborted the landing go around or did a touch and go. Some pilots did a great job and landed the aircraft during these extreme conditions with spectacular and skilled handling. While exactly why humans do this hasn’t yet been definitively proven (with the most popular theory being that, while not essential, it’s mostly about improving balance and decreasing angular momentum of the body), the fact remains that this is how the vast majority of humans all over the world walk… But not so with Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation. My Last Day at UPS Package Handler: A Warning

10:00
The job itself is super manageable and doable but poor communication combined with several workers who aren't willing to do overtime will force temps and hard workers to feel obligated to work longer. This was my last day at UPS as a full time temporary package handler. I was a sorter for both the night shift and the preload. I wanted to put this up mainly to wrap up a few more thoughts that weren't covered in my previous videos and also to add in a bit more content since I haven't been uploading much as late. My last week and a half at UPS was an uphill battle. I got used to the workload of the usual 9 hr per day with a 1 hr break in between and often a good amount of overtime everyday. That was doable. When my lunch was cut in due to the workload, that's when the work got tougher. The full one hour break was an ample amount of time for me to enjoy food and stretch out sore muscles. When cut to less than 30 minutes, I was always going into the second shift half awake and fatigued. On top of this, I noticed that the higher ups tried to keep me as long as possible by providing me with a paraphernalia of things to do. If one task was done past overtime, they'd go out of their way to search for another task even when my lunch was already cut to 20 minutes. All in all, make sure you be mindful about how hard you work here. If you are a part-timer and plan on staying here full-time, then put in just the right amount of effort to get the work done. The moment a higher-up catches you putting in extra work, they will take advantage of your mentality and also your physical capabilities. As for summer-temps, this will happen regardless of whether or not you have the working mentality. Just grind it out, work hard, and make the best out of it. The work is tough. The environment is tough. But, the benefits severely outweigh the work that is put in.

HAIR RAISING Facts About Airplanes

10:11
Ladies and Gentlemen, please take your seats and fasten your seatbelts, because on today’s video you’re about to learn a whole of fascinating facts about airplanes, what the purpose is of some of those bits and bobs, and what you should do and most certainly should not do whilst on board! Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 10 - Lights Out You’ll notice when you fly, the cabin crew let you know that they’re about to dim the lights and the reason they do this is so that your eyes will adjust to the darkness. In the unlikely event that you will need to evacuate the plane at night time, your eyes will already be used to the darkness outside. Same goes for when you are asked to raise your window blind during the day when landing, so your eyes are acclimatized to the bright lights. 9 - Chicken or beef? Airline food has a bit of a bad reputation, but it really isn’t the foods fault. It more than likely tasted great just before it went on board. According to research, it’s the environment that heavily influences the taste of the food. Noise levels of roughly 85-decibels change the way we taste food. Sweet flavors weren’t as sweet and salty foods tasted much saltier. And to add to that, the recycled air in the cabin is said to deaden your taste buds. 8 - This Way Up There are great blogs written by people behind the scenes of your airplane journey, like things the airline doesn’t tell you, and what the airhostess really thinks of you and here’s something written by a baggage handler. Don’t waste your time putting a This Side Up or Fragile sticker on your luggage, because it makes no difference. The stuff has to fit into a small space, and they’ll make that happen any way possible. However, pop a “I heart baggage handlers” on your bag and you might have better luck! 7 - Limited Supply It’s great that airplanes have emergency air supplies, but what’s not so great is how little they actually last! In case of an emergency, you’re very aware that your oxygen mask will drop from the ceiling, and you need to attach yours first before helping anyone else. However, do it quickly – because apparently those masks only last 15-minutes! 6 - Not taking any chances Take note next time you’re busy finding your seat, and see if you can spot a row 13 or 17. Chances are you won’t find them. A number of flyers are superstitious, and refused to sit in those rows. Although, recently – you’ll find a row 13 on British Airways A320. 5 - Cabin is ready for take-off That announcement will mean nothing to the departed who are more than likely on board the flight with you. Firstly, there is the odd occasion where a passenger literally dies whilst on board the flight. Crew are trained to deal with this, and have even resorted to covering the body up and strapping them in… creepy, right? Singapore Airlines have special corpse cupboards, where they store the bodies. These can also be used when transporting a body to another city or country for burial. 4 - Paint the sky It’s a thing of beauty to see the white lines that often trail behind an aircraft, and it’s really just trails of condensation. Their real name is contrails, and it’s caused from the plane engines releasing water vapour during the combustion process. The hot vapour is released from the exhaust, makes contact with the colder air and turns it into those fluffy white lines you see gracing the skyline. 3 - Age is but a number Perhaps, but would you feel safe flying in an ancient airplane? Did you know that some planes are exceptionally old, but you may not realize it because they’ve had a pretty decent paint job. If you’re keen to see the age of the plane you’re flying in, take note of the registration and look it up on Planespotter.net. There you will find the exact age of the exact aircraft you’re flying in… I think I’d rather not know! 2 - Handle with care We’re led to believe that flight recorders are indestructible, and although they will survive most crashes – they can get ruined. Severe impact or a jet fuel fire can totally destroy it, making the little black box null and void. 1 - Special Treatment You have to respect cabin crew as they really deal with all sorts of people onboard their flight – and it must take a lot of tongue biting to not talk back to some difficult flyers. Turns out flight attendants always know who will be boarding that plane. They know the frequent flyers, the friends of the pilot and the important folk… hence why you’ll find some unsavory patrons being treated exceptionally well.

7 Things You Should Never Do On An Airplane

05:56
If you're new, Subscribe! → http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-The-List Whether you're an avid traveler or only take flights out of occasional necessity, there are certain things that every airline passenger needs to know. You can study the TSA website from top to bottom and actually tune in for the steward's take-off instructions to prepare for your high-altitude journey. But those guidelines probably don't tell you the nitty gritty about what you should avoid during air travel. Luckily, we've pulled together some expert advice to help you steer clear of germs, discomfort, and inadvertent rudeness on your next airplane trip.
