This B-17 was used in the movie Memphis Belle as Memphis Belle. I was lucky enough to go for a ride as one of the crew at an airshow and captured some videos of that experience. This is the startup sequence. The video was taken with a, new-at-the-time, sony 4mp camera so the quality is not good. I wish I had a GoPro but they were not available yet.

Taking a ride on the B-17 "Memphis Belle", as used in the movie of the same name. We brought along our 1949 MG TC, which is the perfect compliment to this bomber. Many US airmen, including B-17 crew, were stationed in England during and after World War II and drove cars like this to the airfield. After the war they brought MG TCs back home to the USA, where sports cars weren't typically available. This started the sports car phenomenon in North America and gave birth to many important cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette and Ford Thunderbird, along with the careers of numerous legendary race car drivers who started racing in TCs. Sorry about the audio, I wasn't really prepared for wind like I should have been.

The "Movie Memphis Belle" flying over the airport before landing. The B-17G (restored as a B-17F) came in Friday, June 11, 2010 for the weekend airshow at New Garden Flying Field in Toughkenamon, PA. This aircraft is not the original Memphis Belle, but the plane that portrayed the original aircraft in the early '90s film.
