About the size of Central Park and a few miles off the coast of Long Island, Plum Island houses the nation's only laboratory that is capable of conducting live research of foot-and-mouth disease, a highly contagious animal disease that hasn't struck the US with an outbreak since 1929. Because of this, visitors are strictly forbidden unless they've received security protocol from the Department of Homeland Security. The lab's very location on an island was intentional when it was built in 1954: so nothing reaches its shore, and nothing leaves. Motherboard gets a rare peek inside the Plum Island Animal Disease Center, and speaks to the scientists tasked with developing foot-and-mouth disease vaccines at one of the most protected labs in the world. Nature fanaTICKS beware; cases of Lyme disease are on the rise. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the US; and climate change is helping it to spread even more. Animals such as deer, mice, squirrels, other critters in wooded area can be hosts to the bacteria, Borrelia burgdorferi, that causes Lyme disease in humans. When ticks feed off these hosts, the ticks become infected with it. And the bacteria can then be transmitted to humans via tick bites. There are numerous ways to prevent tick bites, but the best protection is vigilance. Whether you're going hiking, camping, or just a stroll in the woods, check for ticks that may have become attached. The sooner the tick is removed, the lesser your chances of being infected with Lyme disease. This video presents the story of John, who got Lyme disease from a tick bite, while on a camping trip with his son. John talks about his early symptoms and his diagnosis by his physician, Dr. Heaton. Dr. Heaton discusses some common concerns that patients have about Lyme disease. The video concludes with John suggesting some tips for avoiding tick bites and Lyme disease. Lyme disease is spread by the bite of an infected blacklegged tick. Over 30,000 cases of Lyme disease are reported each year. Most cases occur in New England, the mid-Atlantic states, and the Upper Midwest. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system. Lyme disease is typically treated with a 10-21 day course of antibiotics. Lyme Disease treatment and prevention: https://draxe.com/natural-strategies-to-cure-lyme-disease/ In this video, you will learn 3 steps to decrease the symptoms of Lyme disease in as few as 7 days through diet, supplements and natural treatments. 1. Diet The ideal diet for Lyme disease is meant to boost your immune system. Seventy percent of your immune system is located in your gut, so you want to follow a diet to heal and seal your gut lining. Remember that there is not a specific food that will heal you but rather your body heals itself. When you have damage within your body, you want to strengthen your natural immune system by consuming foods that are easy to digest. Don’t have ice cold drinks, raw juice and raw vegetables but rather have warm and drying foods. Bone Broth Meal: Combine organic meat, bone broth and vegetables in a crockpot to obtain the vitamins and minerals you need to heal and seal your gut lining. You can also add in fermented vegetables and probiotics. 2. Supplements Vitamin D3 (5,000 - 10,000 IU/day) to help your body fight off disease B-Complex supports cellular function CoQ10 (100 - 200mg/day) Bone Broth protein powder or collagen protein powder to repair and heal damaged tissues Adaptogenic herbs 3. Natural Treatments: Ozone therapy Acupuncture http://draxe.com/what-is-acupuncture/ Chinese Herbs Qi Deficiency http://draxe.com/qi-deficiency/ *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. More than 1 in 10 people successfully treated with antibiotics for Lyme disease go on to develop chronic, sometimes debilitating, and poorly understood symptoms of fatigue and brain fog that may last for years after their initial infection has cleared up. Now, in a small study, Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers report they have used an advanced form of brain scan to show that 12 people with documented post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome (PTLDS) all show an elevation of a chemical marker of widespread brain inflammation, compared with 19 healthy controls.

Lyme Disease Success Treatment Stories: DJ and Model Didier Cohen undergoes Lyme disease treatment at Infusio Beverly Hills. Download our Program Guide: https://www.infusio.org/lyme In 2006 DJ and model Didier Cohen began having very bad stomach problems. He went to doctor after doctor who kept giving him a clean bill of health. As he pushed through his symptoms to pursue television gigs like the Celebrity Apprentice Australia and Australia's Next Top Model and producing music, deep down he knew something wasn't right. He wasn't feeling right and knew something was wrong. After symptoms got worse and he was chronically fatigued, unable to hold down any food, experienced numbness in his arms, neck, and face and other common lyme disease symptoms. But when he visited more Orthopedic physicians, they would tell him there was nothing wrong. One of them then asked him, "Do you think you have Lyme Disease?" And Didier said, "No way", as he hadn't recalled ever being bitten by a black-legged tick and didn't recall ever noticing the bullseye rash associated with the bite of an infected tick. A few weeks later his physician told him that he had three strains of late-stage Lyme disease. His physician sent him to a supposed Lyme Disease Literate Doctor who put him on fourteen antibiotics immediately. The second after beginning to take the antibiotics, he was crying from excruciating pain and having seizures 90 percent of the day. He couldn't follow any of his passions at this point and was looking for a miracle. Soon after, a good friend of his had told him about Infusio. His family immediately booked treatment for him and carried him inside. Upon his arrival, he walked in with a bag of 200 pills and was surprised when Lyme Literate Specialist Dr. Suzanne Kim told him he wouldn't need them here and to throw them away. For the first time in his life, he knew he was going to get better. http://lyfenutrition.com Free E-book^^^ Look, there aren’t a lot of useful tests in the area of lyme disease. Getting diagnosed can be extremely tricky. In a world run by insurance companies and big pharmaceutical companies that the doctor’s must comply with in order to get paid, you must find a way to get the proper diagnosis. Lyme disease is often referred to as “the great imitator” because of the amount of different symptoms that it causes and the similarities it has with other diseases. Since lyme disease is extremely hard to test for, and it’s just like many other diseases, diagnosis is extremely hard, and people are misdiagnosed all the time. In my studies so far, I’ve found 1 good test that the doctor claims can detect the presence of lyme disease 99% of the time. Many other tests are only 50 or 60% accurate, so 99% is a HUGE improvement. This caught my attention I read on in the book New Paradigms In Lyme Treatment to learn exactly what this test is, and I would like to share it with you today. The test is a combination of what is known as rolfing and a PCR test done to the urine. A PCR test has been an option for a long time now, and it’s a test where they magnify the organisms in the blood or urine that is large enough for the human eye to study and match the DNA or RNA of the organisms. Of course this is a good idea, because now they’re actually looking for the bacteria itself, rather than an antibody response to the bacteria as done with the standard ELISA test that most doctor’s prescribe. Rolfing is a deep tissue massage. But why would a massage help the testing process? Well, the Dr. said that it brings the microbes out of hiding and into the lining of the bladder when done properly. This massage kind of knocks down the bacteria into the bladder where they can then be eliminated into the urine. The urine then gets tested with a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. This probably sounds too good to be true. A deep tissue massage and a pee test sounds like the best lab test anyones ever gotten, doesn’t it? But, needless to say, not every family physician is about to give you a deep tissue massage. While this test sounds promising to say the least, you’ll need to go to a lyme specialist at a healing center that involves massage in order to have the option.

Why You Should Listen: In this episode, you will learn some of the latest from Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, PhD on the topics of Lyme disease, detoxification, diet, and much more. About My Guest: My guest for this episode is Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, PhD. Dr. Klinghardt studied medicine & psychology in Freiburg, Germany, completing his PhD on the involvement of the autonomic nervous system in autoimmune disorders. Early in his career he became interested in the sequelae of chronic toxicity (especially lead, mercury, environmental pollutants & electromagnetic fields) and its impact on chronic illness. While working in India he encountered Eastern concepts of disease etiology & blended them with his Western training. This laid the foundation for his 5-level system of Integrative Medicine – the 5 Levels of Healing. Increasingly aware of the limitations of conventional medicine when dealing with chronic conditions, Dr. Klinghardt expanded the focus of his work to include body-oriented psychotherapeutic approaches such as applied psychoneurobiology, Family Constellation work, and other tools. Dr. Klinghardt has contributed significantly to the understanding of metal toxicity & its connection with chronic infections, illness & pain. He has been instrumental in advancing various fields within biological medicine such as non-invasive pain management, injection techniques for pain & orthopedic dysfunction, anti-aging medicine, toxicology, neuro-developmental disorders, energy psychology, biological dentistry, and more. He has also developed Autonomic Response Testing, a comprehensive evaluation system that has helped many to become accomplished holistic practitioners. He founded Sophia Health Institute in 2012, and is actively involved in patient care at his clinic outside of Seattle. Key Takeaways: - What can we do to step up our EMF mitigation efforts? - What works better for parasites; natural options or pharmaceutical ones? - How can we detoxify aluminum and glyphosate? - What role do viruses play in chronic illness? - What is Dr. Klinghardt's approach to treating Lyme? - What are SIBO and MCAS and how to approach treatment? - What probiotic may help with SIBO? - How do we get more energy and a better functioning brain? - Is copper toxicity a common concern? - What diet is best for people wit Lyme? - Is alkaline water a useful tool? - What type of bee venom is best? - Are stem cells moving people significantly forward? - What Dr. Klinghardt does for his own health?
