Boeing 777-300ER Pushback with Descriptions [HD]

05:19
This video includes descriptions of the certain parts of a pushback. Hope it answers and informs you of some interesting information A few things to note: 1. Yes I have ear protection. I'm wearing ear plugs since it was summer and over the ear protection gets really hot really quick. 2. The front right tire does look to be flat. This plane was leaving extremely heavy so there was a lot of weight on the wheels. We would not let a plane leave that might endanger the lives of the passengers on board. 3. YES you are suppose to disconnect the towbar from the tug before disconnecting from the airplane first. What I did was not correct. Registration is JA735A Pushback of All Nippon Airways (ANA) NH flight 1 from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) heading back to Narita International Airport (NRT). Pushback with the aircraft, Boeing 777-300ER, facing to the East.

Sydney Runway Closure! Qantas A330 turbulent landing. East / West Runway 25 in heavy wind.

08:53
High winds have led to the closure of two runways at Sydney on 22/11 and 23/11/18. With the main runway and the third runway closed, flights were directed to the East West runway. There were a lot of flight cancellations at Sydney on 23/11 but luckily Qantas QF574 landed on Runway 25. This is 9 minutes of that flight including the flight path, holding, flying over Sydney Airport, approach and a windy landing! A bit turbulent too! Enjoy the engine spools and a few bumps!! Why PILOTS CAN´T wear POLARIZED sunglasses? Explain by CAPTAIN JOE

Now before we talk about a normal set of sunglasses and a pair of polarized ones and how they affect your vision we quickly need to discuss unpolarized and polarized light waves. The light emitting from the sun releases light particles, better known as Photons. These photons vibrate up and down, or side to side creating a bundle of light waves flying towards planet earth. Which means that the light provided by the sun flys in horizontal or vertical waves, therefore making the light waves unpolarized. But, the sunlight can untangle itself pretty easily. Those light particles just have to strike something, like a lake or in our case clouds, and they'll start vibrating in the same direction. Meaning all the photons start oscillating in the direction that's perpendicular to that surface. So, the light particles that bounce off a horizontal surface will then begin oscillating vertically. Meaning the reflected particles suddenly have fallen into sync reflecting as polarized light. Which brings us back to our polarized sunglasses. I admit the name was not well chosen, they should have called them "sunglasses with vertical or horizontal bars", which are able to block polarized light. So let´s say the sun light which gets reflected off a cloud, is coming vertically towards you, giving you that nasty glare. Now if you put on your polarized sunglasses with "horizontal bars" in them, they will block the vertical light waves and reduce the glare. Now you´ll think that´s great, cause pilots see sunlight reflecting clouds most of their time, so why can´t they wear polarized sunglasses? Here comes the problem! Watch the rest of the video to learn more about polarized sunglasses influence your vision in a modern airliner cockpit! A physics teacher in the USA Dan Burnes adapted a presentation explaining/visualizing Gravity. Using less than $100 of materials he has been able to explain a theory/force that stumps the best of us. I just wish I had a teacher like him when I was in secondary school or university - physics would have been a lot more comprehensive and enjoyable. I hope this video encourages and inspires others to create their own universes and discover what happens when you play with the space time continuum, gravity, spandex/lycra pvc tubing, marbles, weights and other spheres. I can't wait to see what students, parents, teachers, tutors, colleagues come up with and I hope they video their universes at play and post them for all of us to see. How does a windsock work? Answer by CAPTAIN JOE

It is normally placed next to the runway or a helipad, so that pilots can clearly see it after lining up on the runway or coming in for landing. It´s also indicated on most airport ground charts with this little symbol. During night operation it is well lit either from the ground or lamps installed within the sock. It´s general purpose is to give pilots a quick reference as to where the wind is coming from and the approximate speed. Before accelerating for take-off you take a quick glance at it, so you can give the necessary rudder inputs whilst rolling down the runway.  To determine the wind direction you look at your compass, check your heading, and then estimate the pointing angle of the windsock relative to your heading. The wind direction is the opposite of the direction in which the windsock is pointing. Which means, if we had a wind blowing from the west at 270 degrees and 10 knots, the windsock would point towards heading east, cause of the direction it is blowing in. I´ll show you this in a example.  But why does the sock have red and white rings ? They are there to measure the wind velocity. Each ring indicates 5 knots of wind. So as we look at this video here, we have one,two rings fully blown up, and the last three are slightly tilted downwards, so that sums up to 2 rings times 5 knots, respectively windspeed of 10 knots. But at the same time you can see that the sock sometimes is fully blown up and flapping about, so you could expect some gusts as well. In the background I can see the runway, knowing it´s heading of 260 degrees I assume that the sock is pretty parallel to it, so guess the wind direction will be approximately 260 degrees. So let´s take a look at the ATIS read out. So not to bad what we´ve estimated, 260 degrees 10knots and gust, and if you compare that to the ATIS read out we got there fairly close. Again, a windsock is only for a quick reference, if you want a proper wind information you would have to listen to the ATIS or ask tower control. So you can see, they are fairly easy to interpret and a great help to get a quick wind information. They are easy to install and cheap to maintain. It is required by flight regulations that even the smallest airport has at least one visible windsock.  I hope you enjoyed this video and I´ve answered another aviation related question for you. So give me a thumbs up, subscribe my channel, and if you have further questions don´t hesitate to comment below. Thanks for watching and see you next time Your captain Joe Look out for the wind sock the next your sitting in your passengers seat. You will most probably see them as we taxi towards the runway.

Why do PILOTS DUMP FUEL??? Explained by CAPTAIN JOE

Today's video will all be about the fuel jettison procedure, or better known as "FUEL DUMPING". Why do pilots dump costly fuel overboard, after you´ve just paid for it as a passenger? And what a terrible pollution of the environment! So pilots have to have a good enough reason why they do that? As jets began flying with US airlines in the late 1950s and early 1960s, the FAA rule in effect at the time mandated that if the ratio between an aircraft's maximum structural takeoff weight and its maximum structural landing weight was greater than 105%, the aircraft had to have a fuel dump system installed. Aircraft such as the Boeing 707 and 727 and the Douglas DC-8 had fuel dump systems. Any of those aircraft needing to return to a takeoff airport above the maximum landing weight would jettison an amount of fuel sufficient to reduce the aircraft's weight below that maximum landing weight limit and then land. And in our case, we have a medical emergency just beyond the coast of Scottland which forces us to land at the next suitable airport, which is Dublin. Then we´ll do the math on how much fuel we actually have to dump in order to safely land at Dublin airport below the maximum landing weight to not damage the airplane. We´ll quickly go over the fuel dumping panel and the actual fuel dumping hose of the Boeing 747. I hope you enjoy this basic explanation video on the fuel dumping procedure. We're going to go over some behind-the-scenes tips and tricks concerning flying. These are tips coming straight from people that work on the front lines. They're coming from flight attendants, pilots, luggage handlers, and others. These are the things they would tell you if they could. So get ready. It would be good idea for you to take out a notepad and put your listening cap on because these tips just might save you a lot of time and trouble in the future. These are 25 things nobody ever told you about flying on an airplane. Follow us on: Twitter: https://twitter.com/list25 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/list25 Website: http://list25.com Instagram: https://instagram.com/list25/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/list25/ Check out the physical list here: http://list25.com/25-things-nobody-ever-told-you-about-flying-on-an-airplane/ When you are out over the ocean, there is no radar tracking your plane. Once an aircraft is more than 240km (150 miles) out to sea, radar coverage fades and air crew keep in touch with air traffic control via high-frequency radio. People often fake needing a wheelchair to get boarding priority. Sometimes you'll have 10 people getting on the plane with wheelchairs but only 1 of them actually needs the wheelchair to get off. Pilots and flight attendants call these "miracle flights". Federal law requires wheelchairs to be given to those who request them but airlines generally do not ask for proof of a disability before providing one. Dogs get terrified before they even get on the plane. The handlers can try to calm the dog down but it helps if the dog's name is on the cage. Cats don't care. There is a long list of things that can be either missing or broken on an aircraft while it is still allowed to fly. It's called the Minimum Equipment List. Locks on bags are useless. You can pop the zipper with a pen. The aisle armrests can actually be raised. Usually there is a small divot underneath it that you need to push. The flight attendant may ask you to put it back though. Both pilots are served different meals and they cannot share. This is done to prevent food poisoning. It's not uncommon for airplanes to get struck by lightning. In fact, sometimes the plane itself triggers the lightning by flying through charged clouds which results in static discharge off the aircraft. The average commercial airliner gets hit by lightning a little more than once a year. Fortunately, they are built to withstand it. There is a small latch inside the lavatory sign that will open the door when it is pulled, even if the door is locked. If you don't remove old tags from your bag, there is a good chance it might get rerouted or not make it to your final destination And more... How does an ILS work? One of the most ask question regarding how an airplane flies towards the runway without any visual aids. So the Instrument landing system is a ground based radio navigation system giving pilots a lateral and vertical guidance towards the runway as they are in approach in IMC (Instrument Metrological Conditions). To fly an ILS approach, the aircraft has to be fitted with an adequate ILS receiver to display and converted the picked up signals on the cockpit instruments. Besides that, you need the necessary ILS approach chart with important data like ILS frequency and identifer code, ILS inbound course and glideslope angle, given minimum descent altitudes or heights depending on the ILS category, and last but not least the go arround procedure. The so called localizer is an antenna array normally located beyond the end of the runway and generally is built up of several pairs of directional antennas. They send out radio signals in the horizontal axis of the runway.(This is very often mistaken, as many airports have to Localizer antennas, for either direction of the runway. So this plane right here is not flying in regards to this antenna right here, but to the antenna at the far end of the runway it´s landing on) Also important to know, at the same time the localizer transmits the so called ILS facility identification code. What is that good for? Because the frequency range for the ILS is fairly small, you could pick up the wrong ILS frequency of a nearby airport. Therefor each ILS sends out it´s own morse code, for example the ILS identifaction code for John F.Kennedy airport runway 04Right is IJFK, which will be displayed in our ILS receiver instrument or you have to actually listen to the morse code and compare it to the one on your ILS approach chart. Please comment below what type of plane you´re flying if you still have to self tune the ILS frequency and listen to the morse code. But see more within the video! Thank you very much for your time, wishing you all the best your "Captain" Joe BIG THANK YOU TO Robert Bremmer for supporting my channel with his short animation about the ILS and Marker beacons. Initiating the descent at the right moment is one the things/procedures most flight students and even experienced pilots struggle with from time to time. Nowadays airliners are equipped with all sorts of helpful tools showing you when to start your descent but this systems still can´t anticipate the mood of the air traffic controller, which can always interfere with your descent. So watch the video and look out for some great and helpful thumb rules which will make your descent planning a lot easier. Thank you very much for your time! AVIATION REVIEW of YEAR 2017 - 70 minutes PURE AVIATION (4K)

01:12:08
Another year is almost over and as every year I end it with an extensive aviation review. I sumed up the most interested aviation clips I filmed this year, including an Airbus A380 slingering over the runway, a MD11 on a wet runway, a KLM Boeing 787 go around and many more. Don` t know how many hours it took me to edit this video, probably more than 20 hours. You are able to see more than 200 planes in 70 minutes and this video is probably something for the cold winter days, if you don` t know what to do and just want to relax in front of your computer watching aviation videos. At least that` s what I do when it` s cold outside. Thanks for watching all my videos in 2017 and I hope you will continue watching my stuff in 2018.
