06:05
Who approved these blue prints? These are 57 of the world's funniest & most EXTREME building & engineering fails ever! Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 50. At the corner of Auschwitz lane and holocaust road. How did no one see this in the blueprints? 49. In the event of an emergency, grab a crowbar or a torch and weld the bars off from around this hydrant. Good luck, you’re going to need it. 48. Duck! These stairs are for the vertically challenged individuals only. 47. We can stay at the second Best Western just to see what the inside of the room. Staying in the corner room non-smoking and by the hallway. 46. Your new office is right this way! 45. These condos come equipped with a workout facility, pool, and every unit comes with a balcony. 44. New improved ATM they are child proof and have the latest technology to keep your money secure. You cannot even see the numbers to punch in your own pin. 43. Child’s ATM, Is there no middle ground? It’s a small world after all. 42. Window access to the stairs. 41. The landscaping is through the roof in this home. 40. The landscaping is off the wall in this one. 39. It is a good thing they stopped there someone could have gotten hurt with no railing on the stairs. 38. Bridge by IKEA. Let’s make sure we read the instructions correctly. I’ll meet you halfway. 37. The menswear is up the stairs. 36. Is this what they mean when they say they have a half-flush toilet? 35. It’s the most fun you’ll never have again. I suppose every playground has a tunnel built on the ground by children leading to China. 34. They must feel walled inside. Think they could try and leave the window open? 33. There is plenty of room to build additional stairs. Seems up to code. 32. Looks about right parking should not be an issue living here. 31. A metaphor for life? Or Dr. Kevorkian kitchen? 30. Introducing the most exclusive club in town. Where’s the doorman? 29. Every employee must be sure to wash their hands five times before returning to work. 28. Stairs are coming soon. I may be able to reach this one. 27. Thank goodness for that handrail it’s the stairway to platform 9 ¾. 26. It is a handi-trap. 25. Don’t hit the wrong switch I suppose the projector needs to cool down. 24. Economy seats still cost $300 on StubHub. 23. Is this a team-building exercise? 22. You have arrived at your destination; please exit to the left. Is this the airport? 21. Stairs are for wussies! These stairs are even handi-capable. 20. Even the trees do not want to be here. 19. These stairs are spiraling out of control. 18. That is not how it is supposed to work. 17. Do we forget what that symbol means? Apparently you need to bring your own ramp. 16. Nice save, looks right, at least, someone is trying to keep up with the time. 15. Almost as bad as going into the stall and realizing after you go there is not toilet paper. Go ahead reach for it! 14. Narnia’s exit door. This secret room is a truly a secret. 13. Not the most comfortable seat around, but hey there is a beautiful ocean view. 12. Yes, seriously just build the stairs six feet to the left. Someone evidently followed instructions. 11. Ring your little bell now, Mr. Cyclist and see what happens. This appears to be an excellent place to put a large pole on the cement path. 10. It’s not stupid if it works, but how are you supposed to shut the door when you get in there stand on the toilet? 9. How’s that meant to work? Just open the door and jump after climbing over the railing. 8. This belongs in a skate park or a playground to be a slide, very x-treme. 7. Suck it in, guys or you will never get out this way. 6. Our bathrooms boast an intimate and friendly setting to help you relax while you use the bathroom. 5. Even more intimate and friendly. 4. The sidewalk is closed you need to make your own pathway. 3. World’s largest pay phone. Wonder what kind of money it takes? Pay phones still exist? Hang on. 2. I’m not a contractor, but I am reasonably sure that building is supposed to be in the middle of the highway. Detour! 1. All Employees must wash fingers only before returning to work. How did these ever make it past the blueprint stage? Someone needs to get fired! Which one of these building blenders made you face palm? Leave a comment below! 15 Maps That'll Change the Way You See the World

10:24
How to Learn More about the World. You might have been at the top of your class in Geography, but we bet you haven’t seen the world quite like this. Caution: these 15 maps will change the way you see the world! A map showing which side of the road different countries drive on, all the times zones in one map, the longest flights you can take, all the saunas in Finland, Facebook map of the world and even the redhead map of Europe – you’re going to love those. TIMESTAMPS A map showing which side of the road different countries drive on 0:35 A map of the world’s time zones 1:05 A map of the longest flight paths in the world 2:00 A map of all the public saunas in Finland 2:36 A map of all the McDonald’s restaurants in the US 2:57 A map of dedicated cycle paths in the Netherlands 3:35 A map of the most popular sport in each country 4:08 A map of the most recurring words on each country’s Wikipedia page 4:47 A Facebook map of all the interconnected friendships 5:49 The redhead map of Europe 6:30 A map of dogs vs cats in the US 7:18 More people live inside this circle than outside of it 7:47 A map of the most remembered US states 8:13 The true size of Africa 8:58 The size of the moon compared to the US 9:30 #maps #worldfacts Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -Countries with left-hand traffic (marked in orange) are mostly former British colonies. -India and Sri Lanka live on the Indian Standard Time of UTC+5:30. Iran is on UTC+3:30. And if you ever find yourself in Nepal, you’ll have to add 5:45 hours to UTC. -The best proof of the immense size of our world is a 19-hour direct flight from New York to Singapore. -There are 2 million saunas in Finland, the land of 5.5 million people. -Apart from some woody parts of Oregon, the deserts of Nevada, and the mountains of Montana, McDonald’s is always right around the corner. -The total length of the Netherlands cycle network is 22,000 miles, and that’s just dedicated paths. -Canada is into ice hockey, ping-pong is the most popular sport in China, both India and Australia love cricket. -The North Korea Wikipedia page is full of the word “South,” and it’s the opposite for South Korea, which mostly speaks of the “North.” The UK has “Ireland” as its most recurring Wikipedia word. -Facebook is popular worldwide except for China and Russia. The Great Firewall of China blocks it out there. Russia is more into its own Facebook called VK. -10% of the population of Scotland, Ireland, and Wales have that beautiful ginger color. -Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, Oklahoma, Delaware, Montana, Maine, and Hawaii particularly prefer dogs over cats. -With countries like China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Japan all among the most populous states in the world, it comes as no surprise that more people live within this circle than outside of it. -According to the 12 million people who took part in the survey, these are the top 5 most remembered states: California, Florida, Texas, Alaska, and New York. -Africa covers 11,500,000 square miles and could easily hold countries like China, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Costa Rica. -We bet you haven’t seen the outlines of the USA in comparison to the moon. 5 "Impossible" Things That Can Happen On Other Planets

07:24
A lot of things happen on Earth, but there are still some things that just don't ever happen here. But, that doesn't mean that what's impossible here is impossible everywhere else in the universe. Whether it's clouds that rain rocks or glass, wind that's 29 times faster than sound, having 2 shadows or even being able to fly in some places, this is a collection of some of the most ridiculous places that we know of so far in our strange universe. This video was done in a collaboration with Second Thought, and you can check out his video here! If you're curious about flying on Titan and the research into that, I've attached a paper written by the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leicester dated October 22nd 2013 which goes into a lot more detail than I could afford. Here it is; https://physics.le.ac.uk/journals/index.php/pst/article/view/625/420 Please Subscribe: http://bit.ly/2dB7VTO Music is by Brandon Maahs. What Would Happen If All Ice On Earth Melted?

11:41
What Would Happen If All Ice On Earth Melted? ► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/r5jd1F Many people have wondered what would happen if all the glacial ice on the planet melted. Some believe that it would be a water world with no land in sight, while others think that could never happen. But the Earth is changing in more ways than you might think on its own. Many might wonder how much of the Earth’s current global warming trend is affected by humans. Regardless of who is to blame, whether the planet is just going through a natural phase in its evolution, or if we are responsible, the evidence shows that the planet is getting warmer and warmer every year. But just how much of the planet could end up covered in water if all the glacial ice melted? We hope you enjoyed the video. Do you have an idea on how we could stop global warming? Let us know in the comments. If you enjoyed watching this video, then make sure to like, subscribe, and turn on notifications so you’ll be the first to know when a new episode arrives. 16 Incredible Maps That Look Different Than You Think

06:19
Geography is often wrongly associated with boring maps and old facts about the world. However, it always depends on how it’s taught – and today, we’re going to make it more fun. Here're 16 amazing maps that will change your perspective of the world forever (at least, you won’t feel bored looking at them!) Other videos you might like: 12 Strange US Geography Facts No One Told You About https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJvZJpQ2jfA& 10 Smallest Countries You Never Knew Existed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHaXOzVyHzI& 15 Dramatic Changes on Earth Revealed by NASA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7txs0SPaJw& TIMESTAMPS: The real size of Greenland 0:30 What if Australia was at the same latitude as Russia and Europe 1:06 The right size of Mexico 1:49 Antarctica 2:12 Now, let’s see what the real size of Russia is 2:40 Alaska 3:10 China and India 3:31 Africa 4:08 The six largest countries along the equator 5:00 Bonus 5:37 SUMMARY: - Let’s take a look at Greenland. It’s a huge country, right? However, when we shift its position to the same latitude of the USA, it’s clear that Greenland is nowhere near as big as we thought! - Look at how the shape of Australia has changed when it’s moved to the north. It’s now within the Arctic Circle, much closer to the pole, so it becomes stretched. - We used to think that Mexico isn’t that big, but let’s move it to the north. Now, what do you see? It seems that Mexico is quite a large country! - Russia is not only the largest country in the world but also the most northerly. But when we move Russia to the equator, we can see that it’s actually two to three times smaller. - Let’s take a closer look at Alaska and how its size gradually changes as it’s moved towards the equator. It’s becoming smaller, smaller, and even smaller. - All of the countries on the African continent look quite small in their normal positions, right? That’s because they’re located at or close to the equator. What if the Roman Empire Reunited Today?

05:51
The Roman Empire was one of the largest and most influential civilizations that ever existed. But what if somehow in today's current global age, the Empire was recreated to its exact ancient borders? What would the country look like today in the 21st century, and how would it compare to other countries across the world? This video attempts to find out! What If Everybody Lived In the Same Building? (Part 2)

08:59
Try out your 30-day free trial and free audiobook with Audible by clicking here: http://www.audible.com/reallifelore This video is a sequel to one of my previous videos. I try my best to explore what a building that could "comfortably" house the entire human race would look like within this. I didn't have enough time to cover some of the math in the video because I was worried it would get too boring, so for anybody who's interested I've written it all out below... 80% of the US freshwater source is currently consumed by agriculture. Aeroponics reduces the amount of water needed by 98%, and eliminates the need to use chemical fertilizers and pesticides. It seems that the most efficient crops that can be produced are sweet potatoes and regular potatoes. Sweet potatoes grow about 13.5 tons per hectare, or 1,350 tons per square kilometer. This can be translated to 54,000 calories per hectare per day which is equal to 5.4 million calories per day per square kilometer. If everybody is given a diet of 1,500 calories per day, then 1 square kilometer of sweet potatoes is enough to feed 3,600 people per day. Sweet potatoes are generally between 12 and 15 inches in height, so giving them a little more space of about 1 meter and stacking 1,000 layers on top of eachother and we could fit 1,000 square kilometers into 1 cubic kilometer. Using hydorponics, (a method of growing plants without using soil, but instead using nutrient rich water solution, where the plant roots are directly exposed to the solution) and we can increase our raw yields by around 280%. Thus, we could then expect to feed up to 10,080 people per day per square kilometer, but then we could further increase the efficiency with aeroponics (another method of growing plants in which nutrient rich water is vaporized and sprayed directly onto the roots of crops.) Using this method we could further increase efficiency by between 50% to 270% over traditional hydorponic methods. If the far side of this could be realized, we could potentially be feeding 27,216 people per square kilometer per day of space. Now, extended to the cubic kilometer that means that we could actually be feeding 27,216,000 people per day per cubic kilometer building full of sweet potatoes, since we would multiply 27,216 by 1,000 since there would be 1,000 layers. Therefore if we build 275 of these cubic buildings to feed the entire human race a diet of sweet potatoes, or have a farmland about the size of Ecuador for the same purpose, we could in theory feed the entire species. 33.8% of Brazil’s land is considered arable and suitable for farming, which would translate to 2,878,329 square kilometers of potential farming space, more than enough to feed us all several times over “in theory.” Obviously a diet of only sweet potatoes is not entirely healthy, but in an emergency situation or hypothetical situation like this it appears to be the most efficient food for us to consume. If I’m wrong about any of this please feel free to correct to me or leave your own ideas :) Sources: http://www.fao.org/docrep/t0207e/T0207E04.htm http://www.businessinsider.com/10-crops-that-feed-the-world-2011-9?op=1/#cassava-6 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeroponics http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/AG.LND.AGRI.ZS http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0304423807003846 https://www.researchgate.net/publication/234520423_Comparison_of_vegetative_growth_and_minituber_yield_in_three_potato_variety_in_aeroponics_and_classic_hydroponics_with_three_different_nutrient_solutions http://www.un.org/esa/population/pubsarchive/chart/14.pdf http://www.businessinsider.com/nasa-data-shows-the-world-is-running-out-of-water-2015-6 https://www1.nyc.gov/site/planning/zoning/districts-tools.page http://www.techtimes.com/articles/92543/20151008/ever-wondered-how-many-solar-panels-are-needed-to-power-up-the-world-heres-the-answer.htm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_electricity_consumption https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itaipu_Dam https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_resources_management_in_Brazil http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/future_tense/2012/06/food_security_what_crops_will_feed_the_world_if_we_run_out_of_farmland_.html Music is by Brandon Maahs, check out his website for more great stuff! www.brandonmaahs.com Image Credits: http://stefan-morrell.cgsociety.org/ Please Subscribe: http://bit.ly/2dB7VTO Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RealLifeLore/ Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/RealLifeLore1 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/RealLifeLore French Subtitles Written by: Emel Önal Subreddit moderated by: Oliver Bourdouxhe Special Thanks to Patrons: Joshua Tavares, Wesley Jackson and Matthew Mikulka Videos explaining things. The Most Complex International Borders in the World

11:54
In this video I look at some of the most complex international border. Of course, there are more complex borders in the world, but this video looks at some of my favourites. I look at the 3 enclaves countries of the world: Vatican City, San Marino and Lesotho. As well as Campione d'Italia, an Italian exclave which is an enclave of Switzerland. I then take things up a notch and look at enclaves within enclaves. The town of Baarle which is in the Netherlands and Belgium is an incredibly complicated border. But not quite as much as the Cooch Behar region of India and Bangladesh. This is followed by a look at the odd situation of Bir Tawil, the only unclaimed land on Earth outside of Antarctica (which is itself a place for complex borders!) I finish off the video by looking at the island of Cyprus, which may look like a borderless island, but is in fact far from it! **COPYRIGHT INFORMATION** *IMAGES* All images used are: public domain; licensed under Creative Commons with attribution; or used with permission. It took 200,000 years for our human population to reach 1 billion—and only 200 years to reach 7 billion. But growth has begun slowing, as women have fewer babies on average. When will our global population peak? Why Countries Are Landlocked + Canals

06:30
Why are some countries landlocked? In the case of Bolivia its because they lost a war with Chile. Ethiopia and Serbia granted independence to the parts of their countries that had a coast. Some countries like uzbekistan, are so far inland that they are doubly landlocked, which means they are both landlocked and completely surrounded by other landlocked countries. When a country is landlocked it can be difficult for them to trade, and they often have to rely on their neighbours. In Europe, the danube river lets many landlocked countries have some access to the black sea. As well, many canals exist which lets small ships travel deep inland, providing some of the benefits of having a coast. Some countries may look landlocked, but when viewed closely you can see they have tiny coasts. You can watch this video I made which explores the weird borders in those situations: https://youtu.be/elybAzSVSHc
