Don't discount that to become a doctor you must go to 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, and 3-7 years of residency. That translates to a great deal of opportunity cost, lost income earning potential, and student debt. 250 UPS drivers in Queens, New York were fired after walking out of work for 90 minutes in solidarity with a fellow teamster who'd been terminated abruptly. There have been online petitions circulated to restore the employment of the workers, though new attention is being paid to the intense scrutiny that drivers are under from management that monitor every move of their computerized fleet. We discuss it on the Lip News with Mark Sovel and Jackie Koppell. http://thelip.tv/ http://thelip.tv/show/the-lip-news/ More Playlists from TheLipTV: BUZZSAW news clips - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKHOXojwwEU&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGfxwzdter06NvBnjQjjLvtW&index=2 CRIME TIME clips playlist - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9iS-9bCANI&index=2&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGeC9DbpSnIvd2i9BHh2dBvv BYOD (Bring Your Own Doc) Highlight Videos- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JrLvrfqzLM&index=2&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGeu2DCf6Ouo7hTsA5QB2MAL MEDIA MAYHEM short videos playlist - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJ192Enl4DI&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGcz4un-zws5sMlCLk3NNjDP&index=2 https://www.facebook.com/thelip.tv http://www.youtube.com/theliptv

In this video, Stu Wetstein, #1 Amazon bestselling author and Founder of Recruiter Confidential discusses the fifth step of seven strategies for getting the offer. Recruiter Confidential teaches candidates the best job interviewing tips and strategies based on Stu's 20 years of experience in working with organizations ranging from Fortune 500 companies to some of the fastest growing and largest internet start-ups. Hi, it's Stu Wetstein with Recruiter Confidential. Welcome back for step five of The Seven Strategies for Getting the Offer in 2013. This is number five, interview skills. I am going to give you just a couple of quick tips on interviews. One, no matter what type of interview, these days you might have a phone interview, you might have a Skype interview where you got to do video conferencing. You might have a panel interview. You might go in and meet ten different people over the course of a couple of hours, like speed dating, whatever it is, you have to be polished, you have to practice. When we get into interview skills, it's not just about handling, why are you interested in working here. I I want you to practice and it's easy to just say, "Hey, practice," and then act like that's the tip, but how are you going to practice, so we already talked about using technology and doing this. You're practicing with your iPhone, nobody knows, you delete it, and you pick up tips that way. Okay, now we get to the next level, and that's where you build a support group, and you can call it whatever you want. You can call it a mastermind where you get together and you talk about the jobs you're interviewing for and you can support each other, but more importantly, it's so that you can practice some of these scenarios because again, what I've seen in so many candidates. I've probably been to like 10,000 job interviews in my life with all the candidates I've worked with. What I see is people not coming in and having a good, tight ability to tell their story. Here's what special about me. Here's why I am so interested in this company. Here's what my peers would say about me. Again, not a script, but something that doesn't sound like you made it up the day of the interview, and something where you get to answer with some depth. You get to say well not only could I tell you why I am interested in this company. Let me talk about my experience. Let me talk about the first time I got to know your company. There's so many different ways that you can use a question to your advantage, but you can't sort of do all of that. You can call some audibles the day of the interview, but most of this I want you to prepare, and I want you to get a group together. The last step in this, now you've sort of practiced on your phone, now you've got a support group. Your support group probably were peers or friends or people who were going to give you supportive, constructive criticism, but now you've got to get to the next level. If you're really going to get ready to go in front of a company, to deal with human resources professionals, to deal with hiring managers, to deal with the amount of competition. You really want to stand out. Well, you've probably got a bunch of experts at your house if your house is like my house, and that's where you test, you know, how strong your answers are, how comfortable you are, someone asking why maybe you went through a layoff or why you were at a company and you decided that it wasn't the right move and you ended up moving to a completely different industry. Hopefully the people who are closest to you are going to shoot you straight. If you work with them, if you work with understanding your answers, knowing where you're coming from and not making stuff up, but just telling your story and doing it in a way that's compelling, that's going to separate you from the reality of so many of the other candidates out there. So that's why I am insisting, I am imploring, I am beseeching you to really prepare and practice, and you can't do it the day of, and a lot of times the way interviews used to work, right, even ten years ago, you could do okay in one round of the interview, but they would bring you in for the face-to-face interview, and then you could get a little bit better as, you know, and kind of like you're going through the playoffs, but that's not how it works now. You don't want to get passed over in the very first part of the process, so you've got to be able to tell that story when you get that phone interview, when you get the Skype interview, when you get whatever opportunity, ten minutes, 15 minutes with the hiring manager to really not only be able to tell your story, but obviously to ask some really good, empowering questions about what it's going to be like, you know, a day in the life when you're in that job.

UPS earlier today announced that its fleet of alternative fuel delivery vehicles has now driven more than 200 million miles since 2000. The alternative fuel fleet (AFV) now numbers more than 1,900 and another 62 vehicles have just been ordered. Doing the math, including the earth's circumference at the equator, the total mileage accumulated by UPS's "green fleet" is the equivalent to circling the Earth more than 8,000 times. In addition, while it took 11 years to do it the first time, it should only take another 6-years to do it again.

Amazon today launched a new service that pays part-time drivers in exchange for delivering packages. The service, called Amazon Flex, launches today in Seattle, and will soon come to Manhattan, Chicago, and seven other US cities, according to its website. Drivers will be paid $18 to $25 an hour to deliver packages ordered with Amazon Prime Now, the company's one-hour delivery service, though the site suggests it will eventually expand to include other Amazon deliveries. To qualify, drivers must provide their own car, own an Android smartphone, and pass a background check. http://www.theverge.com/2015/9/29/9413787/amazon-flex-package-delivery-seattle http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by O&O Story Selection using http://wochit.com

Test your Class A CDL Road Skills - Austin, Texas This video is an example of what you would experience when taking a Class A CDL Road Test. In this video, and with many Class A CDL Road Tests, you will experience the following: turning out of parking lots crossing lanes of traffic - crossing railroad tracks near intersections where you need to turn tightly to the right - merging into turn lanes - entering highways - driving highway speeds - exiting highways - turning left at multiple turn lane intersections - driving down curvy roads at low speeds - taking tight left turns - driving on roads where lanes merge - stopping and starting on inclines - driving on roads where there are no stripes - driving on roads where one lane opens to two lanes - making a u turn in tight areas - (backing and parallel parking* not shown in this video, but at minute 13:15 - 13:25 you can see where you might be able to practice that maneuver) merging into turn lanes dealing with traffic and overhanging obstructions. If there is anything you see that I missed or have any questions then please leave a comment and I will do my best to get a good answer for you.

We ventured out on a project, to investigate trucking companies pay packages for their company drivers. We asked a series of questions everything from mileage rate, waiting time pay, drop & pick-up rate, benefit package, layover pay, slip seating, days off/month, miles/week expected and much more, in order to get a good overview of what the company offered the company driver. We wanted to compare the various packages the various trucking companies offered. We surveyed some of the huge North American trucking companies as well as some of the smaller carriers. Wow, no wonder there's a shortage of truck drivers! We aren't yet nearly finished our project, but the responses we've been receiving, have some pretty scary undertones, that we don't like. Most trucking companies do not pay waiting time to their company drivers. Drivers can log dozens of hours per week, waiting to load, unload, circle checks, resets on the road etc., and all for free. Furthermore, most of the carriers we spoke with weren't too interested in getting a driver with over 35+ years experience, with a squeaky clean driving record on board.... they weren't too familiar with their pay packages either. Really quite pathetic. If they couldn't treat a driver right during an interview and show some interest and respect, what would it be liked after he was signed up and on their payroll? I'm sure it would only get worse. These companies need to get their ducks in a row and smarten up.... no wonder there's a shortage of drivers. So far, we are NOT impressed with the carriers we've spoken with... with the exception of one. Top lifestyle habits that separate the rich from the poor! A countdown of life-changing ways that can help the poor live like the rich and be more successful! #9. “Sleep-In”- The saying goes “the early bird catches the worm” and this couldn’t be more true as a 5 year study by Thomas Corley has shown that 50% of self-made millionaires wake up at least 3 hours before they go to work. Many of these millionaires use the extra hours in order to workout, plan their days so they are more efficient, and to brainstorm new ideas. People on the poorer end of the spectrum have a tendency to sleep until the last minute and go into their days less prepared. Also, forcing yourself to wake up when you don’t want to can have the added benefit of giving you more energy, as having a strict and consistent regimen allows your body to function at a higher capacity. Consistently waking up early allows you to take charge of your day, just think of an alarm clock as the bell in a boxing match. However, a lot of poor people don’t have the option of waking up early as they are forced to work long hours, night shifts, and shifts that constantly fluctuate making it harder for them to lock into a healthy circadian rhythm. #8. “Eat Poorly”- The phrase “You are what you eat” could not fit more appropriately when speaking of this big difference between the rich and poor. Getting past the notion that poor people sometimes get stuck eating bad food because for the most part healthier food is more expensive or that poor people find it harder to find the time to cook from home, there is a huge link between success and a healthy diet. Eating fast food and unhealthy snacks can drain your body and mind. If you have ever eaten McDonald’s breakfast, you will know that instead of feeling full of energy and ready to attack the day it usually just makes you want to go back to sleep. Though it can be tough getting into the habit of planning meals, shopping for the right kind of groceries and weaning off sugar, salt and fatty foods the end results are always worth it. Most rich people, though their are exceptions, have figured out early that they won’t be able to sustain success without the proper food fueling their days. This is one improvement that doesn’t require having a personal chef either, as just attempting to consistently eat better foods or eating on a healthy schedule can have instant results. #7. “Skip Exercise”- A recent study shows that 76% of rich people exercise half an hour or more everyday. This fact goes hand in hand with the other topics of rich people being all-around healthier. One of the main reasons that more successful people exercise more is because they know that in order to be fully focused and ready for the day the body and mind have to cooperate. Exercising can also help you to deal with stress and solve problems with the full working capacity of your body. If you are feeling sleepy or sluggish exercise can wake you up and help you to continue on at full-strength. Access to Gym memberships, personal equipment and the ability to take part in leisure activities that may be too expensive for the poor does play into the rich being able to stay in better shape, but anyone can workout without those things and doing it can work wonders. Adding daily exercise of even just half an hour can increase your productivity and help you to stick to your schedule and reach your goals. #6. “Watch T.V.”-According to Thomas Corley’s book Rich Habits, 67% of wealthy people watch less than an hour of television a day as opposed to 23% of poor people. This could be do to the fact that successful people know that television is a distraction from achieving goals and replace the time with more productive habits. It could also be a result of the fact that rich people tend to have their hands in more than one business, so they don’t have time to watch television. The study also shows that poor people tend to watch less quality television than poor people as there is a significant amount of poor people that watch reality shows. Dedicated sports fandom and video games are another type of escapism that the rich don’t necessarily participate in on the levels that the poor do. As the rich usually have easy going lifestyles where they can meet success in real life one can see why they don’t feel the need to hang on to the hopes of their team winning or beating a level in a videogame to feel a sense of accomplishment. But no one can blame those who haven’t reached financial success for enjoying sports, television and video games because sometimes it is impossible to climb the ladder with so many obstacles (some that are put in place by the rich) in everyday life. Poor people may need to take refuge in these things to distract them from their everyday struggles and avoid depression.

Now that we've booked 3 vehicles for our driver to fill up his 3-car wedge auto transport trailer, it's time to verify the info and assign the loads to the driver's app. The booking process is never easy, as we have to find the right loads for the route and negotiate the best carrier rate for the driver - and communicating with the driver is essential to being a good car hauling dispatcher. Making endless phone calls is simply part of the job while checking the map and second guessing decisions can be all too common. However, through it all, getting the loads booked and the trailer filled is a great feeling!
