This was simply one of the most genius ideas from Hot Wheels: "Crack-Ups" was a version of their cars that would get visible damage from crashing, thanks to rotating panels on the cars. Just a little pressure on the cars' panel makes the "damaged" side swap through, or the hood pop up - all you had to do to get it back to normal was rotate and snap the panel back to where it was. This commercial featured four new cars: Bumper Thumper, Blind Sider, Front Ender and Top Bopper. Visit us at http://www.retrostatic.com for more retro TV commercials! Source: http://www.stattimes.com/index.php/supply-chain-ups-test-drone-for-urgent-commercial-delivery/ Sept 26, 2016: Logistics giant UPS has begun testing the use of drones to make commercial deliveries of packages to remote or difficult-to-access locations, working together with drone-maker CyPhy Works. Testing began on last Thursday when the companies staged a mock delivery of urgently needed medicine from Beverly, Mass. to Children’s Island, which is about three miles off the Atlantic coast. The CyPhy drone used in the test is the Persistent Aerial Reconnaissance and Communications (PARC) system. The battery-powered drone flies itself, so very little user training is required. It is extremely durable, has night vision and features secure communications that cannot be intercepted or disrupted. UPS and CyPhy flew the PARC from Beverly to Children’s Island to test the viability of using the drone to make a time-critical delivery. In the mock scenario, the drone successfully carried an asthma inhaler to a child at a camp on the island, which is not reachable by automobile. The drone flight advances an investment made by The UPS Strategic Enterprise Fund in CyPhy to gather information about drone uses and capabilities. “Our focus is on real-world applications that benefit our customers,” said Mark Wallace, UPS senior vice president of global engineering and sustainability. “We think drones offer a great solution to deliver to hard-to-reach locations in urgent situations where other modes of transportation are not readily available.”

A real slice of nostalgia: peeling off a glossy sheet of something that kind of tasted like fruit, but looked and felt more like plastic. Fruit Corners Fruit Roll-Ups advertised their wildly popular snack with this commercial featuring kids leaving school for the day to enjoy Fruit Roll-Ups in different ways, with the "We Love Our Fruit Roll-Ups" jingle. This commercial also advertises a free Crayola drawing marker, which was the giveaway in 1985. Visit us at http://www.retrostatic.com for more retro TV commercials! Source: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ups-completes-drone-test-for-urgent-commercial-delivery-2016-09-23 Drones are coming to a hard-to-reach customer near you. Package delivery giant United Parcel Service Inc. UPS, -0.69% began testing Thursday the use of drones to make commercial deliveries of packages to remote locations. Working with Danvers, Mass.-based drone maker CyPhy Works, UPS staged a mock delivery of urgently needed medicine from Beverly, Mass. to Children’s Island. As part of the test, UPS said the drone delivered an asthma inhaler to a child at a camp on the island, which is only a few miles offshore, but isn’t accessible by automobile. The drone took about six minutes to deliver its package--with “very extreme precision,” Wallace said--while a boat ride of similar distance could take roughly five times as long. “Our focus is on real-world applications that benefit our customers,” said Mark Wallace, senior vice president of global engineering and sustainability at UPS. “We think drones offer a great solution to deliver to hard-to-reach locations in urgent situations where other modes of transportation are not readily available.” The drone used--CyPhy’s Persistent Aerial Reconnaissance and Communications (PARC) vehicle system--is battery powered, has night vision, flies itself and features a secure communications system. United Parcel Service, CyPhy Works UPS invested in CyPhy to gather information about drone uses and capabilities. UPS has tested drones in warehouses to check high, difficult-to-access storage racks, to confirm stock and available storage space. In May, the company announced a partnership with drone startup Zipline and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to deliver blood transfusions throughout Rwanda by drone. Thursday’s first test of a commercial delivery comes less than a month after the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration put new rules--Part 107--into effect, which reduce restrictions on the use of unmanned aircraft systems for commercial applications. “People are captivated by the limitless possibilities unmanned aircraft offer, and they are already creating business opportunities in this exciting new field,” said Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx in a statement released Aug. 29. UPS said it plans to continue to work with regulators as new guidelines are put into place. UPS Airlines’ director of safety, Captain Houston Mills, was recently appointed to the FAA’s new drove advisory committee. Current rules that could still hinder the commercialization of drone deliveries include: • The drone must remain within visual line-of-sight of the remote pilot or of the visual observer from take off to delivery. • Drones may not operate over people who are not directly part of the operation Shares of UPS have climbed 14% year to date, while the Dow Jones Transportation Average DJT, +0.30% has tacked on 6.1% over the same time, and the S&P 500 SPX, +0.53% has gained 6.5% UPS doesn’t expect drones to replace other forms of delivery, but they can increase the places deliveries can be made in a timely manner. “UPS uniformed employees remain a vital connection to our customers, but tests like these reveal a bridge to the future of customer service and urgent package delivery,” Wallace said.

Source: http://smallbiztrends.com/2016/09/ups-drone-package-delivery-test.html Coming shortly after the Federal Aviation Administration introduced its first regulations for commercial drone use, United Parcel Service, Inc., (NYSE:UPS) announced last week it has begun testing an unmanned aerial delivery vehicle built by drone-maker. The drone will be used to make urgent commercial deliveries of packages to remote or difficult-to-access locations, the giant package delivery company said. “Our focus is on real-world applications that benefit our customers,” said Mark Wallace, UPS senior vice president of global engineering and sustainability in a press release announcing the tests. “We think drones offer a great solution to deliver to hard-to-reach locations in urgent situations where other modes of transportation are not readily available.” Testing began with a staged mock delivery of urgently needed medicine from Beverly, Mass. to Children’s Island, which is about three miles off the Atlantic coast. The test was conducted to gather more information about drone uses and capabilities. In the mock scenario, the companies said the drone successfully carried an asthma inhaler to a child at a camp on the island, which is not reachable by automobile. “We’re thrilled to partner with UPS in this endeavor,” said Helen Greiner, CyPhy’s founder and chief technology officer. “Drone technology used in this way can save lives and deliver products and services to places that are difficult to reach by traditional transit infrastructures.” Drone Package Delivery Race in the U.S. Innovation through aerial automation and robotics has long been a focus for the world’s largest companies. Amazon whose current delivery is handled by UPS along with FedEx, for example, first announced plans to begin commercial drone delivery back in 2013. Plans have been ongoing since then. Chipotle earlier this month partnered with Project Wing, a subsidiary of Google’s parent company Alphabet, to test drone delivery of a tasty Mexican menu item. However, the first federally-approved commercial drone delivery was achieved by the small Australian start-up Flirtey that was first in flight over U.S. airspace. Flirtey is said to have delivered supplies to a rural medical clinic in Virginia in late July 2015. Whatever the outcome of this apparent drone delivery race in the U.S. and elsewhere across the globe, small businesses are probably better off with shippers like UPS and FedEx looking at cutting costs with unmanned aircraft deliveries. Perhaps drone deliveries could help bring down the rising costs of shipping packages and consequently bring some much needed relief to small businesses. The CyPhy drone used in the UPS test is the Persistent Aerial Reconnaissance and Communications (PARC) system. The battery-powered drone flies itself, so very little user training is required, said UPS and CyPhy. It is extremely durable, has night vision and features secure communications that cannot be intercepted or disrupted, added the companies.
