Source: http://www.stattimes.com/index.php/supply-chain-ups-test-drone-for-urgent-commercial-delivery/ Sept 26, 2016: Logistics giant UPS has begun testing the use of drones to make commercial deliveries of packages to remote or difficult-to-access locations, working together with drone-maker CyPhy Works. Testing began on last Thursday when the companies staged a mock delivery of urgently needed medicine from Beverly, Mass. to Children’s Island, which is about three miles off the Atlantic coast. The CyPhy drone used in the test is the Persistent Aerial Reconnaissance and Communications (PARC) system. The battery-powered drone flies itself, so very little user training is required. It is extremely durable, has night vision and features secure communications that cannot be intercepted or disrupted. UPS and CyPhy flew the PARC from Beverly to Children’s Island to test the viability of using the drone to make a time-critical delivery. In the mock scenario, the drone successfully carried an asthma inhaler to a child at a camp on the island, which is not reachable by automobile. The drone flight advances an investment made by The UPS Strategic Enterprise Fund in CyPhy to gather information about drone uses and capabilities. “Our focus is on real-world applications that benefit our customers,” said Mark Wallace, UPS senior vice president of global engineering and sustainability. “We think drones offer a great solution to deliver to hard-to-reach locations in urgent situations where other modes of transportation are not readily available.”

This was simply one of the most genius ideas from Hot Wheels: "Crack-Ups" was a version of their cars that would get visible damage from crashing, thanks to rotating panels on the cars. Just a little pressure on the cars' panel makes the "damaged" side swap through, or the hood pop up - all you had to do to get it back to normal was rotate and snap the panel back to where it was. This commercial featured four new cars: Bumper Thumper, Blind Sider, Front Ender and Top Bopper. Visit us at http://www.retrostatic.com for more retro TV commercials! http://digthatbox.com/ - Tune-Ups cars from Marchon are ready to race and crash in this classic toy commercial from 1986. Tune Ups were hot rod toy cars that you use a toy wrench to wind up. The cars were 1/24th scale in size and offered 5 different cars in the lineup. The concept was similar to the popular “Burning Key Cars”, which were 1/64th and had a spring in the bumper and a key that you inserted to activate.

It’s a test a lot of people put off. A colonoscopy is something many just don’t want to undergo, even though the American Cancer Society states 1 in 20 people will be diagnosed with colon cancer in their lifetime. One company is now offering an alternative with help from UPS. Cologuard is a noninvasive colon cancer screening test that identifies altered DNA and/or blood in stool, which are associated with the possibility of colon cancer or pre-cancer. The test can be done at a patient’s own home and involves sending a stool sample to a laboratory. Exact Sciences, a company based in Madison, Wisconsin, is behind the Cologuard test. In 2014, the Food and Drug Administration approved its use, but before the product was ever in FDA hands, Exact Sciences turned to UPS for logistics help.
