Shares of the two largest US shipping companies, UPS and FedEx, are tumbling. The drop came on news that Amazon will launch a competing package delivery service known as “Shipping with Amazon.” Amazon has flirted with shipping its own packages for a while now, most recently in October 2017. Then, shares of UPS and FedEx fell on news of an Amazon program called “seller flex." It's unclear how much of an effect losing Amazon’s business will have on FedEx and UPS. http://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/amazon-shipping-ups-fedex-stock-price-tumbling-reaction-2018-2-1015213025 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

UPS has for several months quit delivering packages to my front door as requested in my UPS Choice membership. My brick mailbox is 85 yards from my front door, on the street and unprotected. After numerous complaints, the driver(s) now have been marking the scan as delivered to my front door, but have been leaving it beside the mailbox. I set up a game camera and got video proof today of the falsified scan. See below scan: Delivered On: Thursday, 02/15/2018 at 4:25 P.M. Left At: Front Door - Proof of Delivery

Amazon.com Inc is testing a program to ship its sellers’ goods, sending shares in FedEx and UPS tumbling even though analysts and the companies played down any near-term threat to the two global delivery businesses. An informant familiar with the matter told Reuters on condition of anonymity that Amazon is running “Shipping with Amazon” in Los Angeles and possibly other locations. News of the test sparked investor concern that the world’s largest online retailer would upend the shipping market. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/C2OSbbQauG0/amazon-tests-delivery-in-los-angeles-shipping-shares-sink-idUSKBN1FT2DI http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

It's been about a year since I've had this same issue with UPS. I've only recently started using UPS and after the 4th delivery my packages are not being delivered due to weather conditions. Today I made a video showing the road and the "puddle" the driver did not want to cross. This has repeatedly happened over the years with a driver unjustifiably complaining about the road. After a lengthy process of UPS inspecting the road, the deliveries will resume for a short time and then the driver repeats the process. I have spent a small fortune and a significant amount of time on repairing the road for deliveries and yet this continues to happen like clockwork. On the positive side... Contacting UPS went well and hopefully this will be resolved tomorrow. As long as this continues to happen I get to make a video that might help someone else in a similar situation.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Amazon is getting ready to launch its own delivery service, named “Shipping with Amazon” (SWA), which will rival UPS and FedEx. The service will see Amazon handle delivery for other businesses, and will start in Los Angeles, where it will work with third-party merchants that sell on Amazon’s marketplace. There are plans to expand to other cities and businesses in the near future. Shipping with Amazon aims to offer lower prices than competitors by adding these deliveries to trucks handling Amazon’s own orders. http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-launching-own-delivery-service-compete-ups-fedex-2018-2 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

Amazon looks to be moving deeper into the shipping world. The online retailer plans to launch a program called "Shipping with Amazon" in Los Angeles in a few weeks, in which the company will pick up and ship packages to customers, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. The service, which will expand to more cities as soon as this year, would start with third-party sellers on Amazon but could eventually open to other businesses, the report said. The program seems to mesh with Amazon's efforts to build up its own shipping infrastructure so it can handle the growing mountains of packages it needs to deliver.Last year, more than 5 billion items shipped with its Prime program worldwide, the company has said.Amazon has invested in a new air cargo hub in Kentucky, 40 Prime Air cargo planes and 4,000 truck trailers. It also runs its own on-demand local delivery service called Amazon Flex.Longer term, Amazon is among a handful of companies including UPS and DHL that are developing delivery drones.Amazon started investing in these resources after the 2013 holiday season, when some of its packages were delivered late by its shipping partners. That work should help ensure customers packages will arrive on time more often."We're always innovating and experimenting on behalf of customers and the businesses that sell and grow on Amazon to create faster lower-cost delivery choices," an Amazon spokeswoman said Friday, without confirming whether Shipping with Amazon was in the works. But, even with those growing investments, there's strong reason to believe Amazon will need to rely on UPS, FedEx and the US Postal Service for many years to come.Amazon would need to significantly amp up its investment in shipping to match those other organizations, several analysts said."Amazon leases 40 planes, FedEx has 659 -- there is no comparison," Anthony Chukumba, an analyst at Loop Capital Markets, told The Washington Post on Friday.Cowen analyst Helane Becker wrote in an investor note Friday that worries about Amazon's push into the shipping world were "somewhat overblown," saying the complex delivery networks of FedEx and UPS were "highly difficult to replicate."She said Amazon takes up about 3 percent of FedEx's total revenue and about 10 percent of UPS' revenue. For their part, UPS and FedEx on Friday offered confidence in their own businesses.Patrick Fitzgerald, a senior vice president at FedEx, said the Journal's headline -- "Amazon to Launch Delivery Service That Would Vie With FedEx, UPS" -- "lacked a basic understanding of the full scale of the global transportation industry." A UPS spokesman said his company "continues to support Amazon" and declined to comment on Amazon's business plans. The Smartest Stuff: Innovators are thinking up new ways to make you, and the things around you, smarter.

Shares of delivery companies FedEx and UPS slid before the opening bell following a media report that Amazon.com is readying its own air delivery service for businesses. Rumors have swirled for some time that Amazon has explored bringing some of its delivery services in house to take control of the process and avoid delays often seen around the holidays. UPS was caught off-guard by the crush of online shopping leading up to the recent holiday season and said this month that it must spend a chunk of its tax-cut savings to improve its package-delivery network. On Friday The Wall Street Journal, citing anonymous sources, said that Amazon is planning a new service called "Shipping With Amazon" that will allow it to pick up packages from businesses and deliver them to consumers. The service is expected to start in Los Angeles in coming weeks, before it is rolled out more broadly as soon as this year. Neil Saunders, the managing director of GlobalData Retail, said Amazon's entry into the delivery business would "send shivers down the spines of the traditional delivery companies." "The danger for the traditional delivery firms is twofold. Firstly, they are likely to lose business from Amazon; this will be slow at first but will accelerate as Amazon rolls out more of its own delivery services," Saunders wrote. "Secondly, if Amazon starts offering delivery to businesses, it will likely do this at a reduced rate." So not only would UPS and FedEx see diminished business from a massive client, they could soon be competing against it. News that Amazon may kick off its own delivery service comes one day after the Seattle company announced two-hour food delivery for Prime members from Whole Foods, which the Seattle company acquired for nearly $14 billion. Amazon has been edging into the delivery business for some time. In August 2016, the company unveiled its first branded cargo plane, one of 40 jetliners that were expected to make up its own air transportation network. Shares of United Parcel Service Inc. and FedEx Corp. dropped around 3 percent in premarket trading, but both had sold off more severely earlier.

Amazon is gearing up to compete directly with UPS and FedEx, according to a new Wall Street Journal report. The so-called "Shipping with Amazon" program will be an end-to-end shipping solution, with pickups from businesses and shipments made to consumers, per the report. The timeframe for rollout is soon, too: Amazon is said to be readying the service for its first launch in LA in the "coming weeks," starting, not surprisingly, with companies that sell stuff via its website. After its initial launch in LA, Amazon will look to expand it out to other cities, possibly as soon as later this year, the WSJ says.Of course it makes sense that Amazon would extend its service to third-dparty merchants working on its ecommerce platform, but the report goes further, saying Amazon would eventually like to offer shipping services to basically any other business, too – with the goal of undercutting both UPS and FedEx on rates. This should not be surprising to anyone following Amazon's moves on the logistics front – the retail giant has its own fleet of cargo jets, its own warehouses, its own last-mile contract couriers and can even act as an ocean shipping agent, just like both FedEx and UPS.It's been reported for a while now that Amazon would eventually compete directly with its longstanding delivery partners.Neither UPS nor FedEx seem to be especially taken aback by this, based on their non-comment comments in the WSJ report. For now, at least, Amazon will still definitely have to rely on its shipping partners to make things work.

It’s long been thought that Amazon would eventually launch its own delivery service to compete with the likes of UPS and FedEx.According to a new report in the Wall Street Journal, Jeff Bezos’ tech giant has moved another step closer with the impending launch of Shipping with Amazon, or SWA.According to people familiar with the matter, SWA will see Amazon picking up packages from various businesses and delivering them to customers.Sources say the service will launch in Los Angeles over the coming weeks with third-party merchants that sell goods on Amazon’s online store. It will eventually roll out to more businesses and other cities.Amazon already delivers some of its orders in a number of US cities.SWA will see drivers picking up shipments from warehouses and businesses and delivering the packages when it is able, according to WSJ sources. The move will reduce the reliance on other delivery services.Amazon has previously invested in several shipping companies, including ones in the UK and France. It also leases aircraft and ocean freight equipment to deliver its packages. The company spends a huge amount on shipping costs and wants to reduce this by using its own network. It will also make extra income from SWA by offering it to other businesses in the same way it did with Amazon Web Services. The news has seen UPS' stock decline around 6% in pre-market trading while FedEx's stock dropped by about 5%.A UPS spokesperson said it continues to support Amazon and other customers and it doesn’t comment on customers’ business strategies or decisions regarding using UPS services.
