SO WONDER WHAT TOWN OR STATE IT IS CLOSE TO. PEOPLE LIVING CLOSE TO THE OCEAN IN SOME STATES GET BLOWN AWAY. YOU CAN TRUST THE OCEAN .. WHY IS SO MANY PEOPLE SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS IDEAL I HEAR NO TAKES. YOU CAN'T LIVE THE CLOSE TO THE OCEAN YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN A STORM IS COMING. OH WELL ALL TO IT'S OWN TASTE. I WOULD DO IT. FUN OARTY HOUSE BUT NOT AS A LIVE IN. PEOPLE DON'T LISTEN. I LIVE WHERE THIS HOUSE ONE DAY WOULD NOT BE STANDING ONE DAY.. HOPE YOU SELL IT TO THE RIGHT PERSON WHO IS NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING.

This house is worth over a million dollars today.
cruzan mongoose (8 months ago)
Still a bargain even if it was 50 years ago. just the fact that you have a rock island that came with it makes it a deal. Not to mention all the stone work probably was still good when the owner bought it..
ArkBlueOfficial (8 months ago)
3,600 dollars in 1961 is worth about $30,443.68 in todays money. still a great deal.
Stafon Von Camron (1 year ago)
The reason its so cheap is because it is a death trap. Upon seas storms, and flood insurance and taxes, its probably not worth owning.

Anyone Know What Year the House Was Built? I Know B4 1941.
jri1678 (1 hour ago)
Built in 1905 after the government used Eminent Domain to condemn and seize the owner's house on Jamestown. That land is now a state park.

You were a wise man to buy that house. That looks like a awsome place to live....I wondering though, what would you use for an address.

I can't believe they make him pay such high tax! Like really, so the government even has the right to charge tax on a damn island?? How do they get away with it, it's not a part of a mainland so it shouldn't be taxed like it is. ugh

Interesting video, however putting the cost of the house in the title is stupid, it's a total clickbate. In year 2000 I bought a house in England for 100k, the owner told me that they bought that house in 1970 for 8k when it was just built. In 2008 the very same house cost £220k. In 2003 I also bought a house in Spain for 28k now it's worth close to 300k. If you speak to old people from different counties, whether its the US, UK, Spain, Germany or Italy all of them will tell you that in their day even large houses cost less than 10k.
$3,600 for a run down house in 1961 doesn't seem to be much of a bargain.
If that house cost $3,600 when the video was made, that would be something...

$3,600 in 1961, no windows, no roof, bad pluming, unlivable, so $3,600 wasn't such a screaming deal after.
1961, $3,500 too low $3,600 OK.
Compare 2017. $350,000 too low $360,000 sure.

He's a old man, if he ever needs medical help, they will have to either put him on a boat (or more pratical, they will put him in a helicopter and airlift him out). Also, the response time to get in in that area triples of that of a city.

xevious2501 (2 years ago)
I think its crazy but i love it just as well. its biggest issue is of course its utter in accessible seclusion , you cant exactly call an ambulance if your in need. coast guard maybe. and you better have a fully operational boat ready at all times. As a weekend get away, its perfect. as a full time home... thats the stuff children books are made of.

Great house! So beautiful in and interesting. I also bought an old house (lime stone) 150 m2) from an Island of West Estonia, EU. The Island of Saarenmaa is much bigger. About 60 km x 35 km. It is already a Medieval place. Lot of work but I love that place and views.
