If you are going to buy or build a lifted truck you need to watch this video! Today we cover 5 things you need to know before buying a lifted Truck! As we drive the SCA Performance Apex, we show you the difference in a stock F-150 versus a lifted F150. The first thing you need to remember is that when you lift a Ford F-150 you will need to retorque the suspension after about 5,000 miles.

if i do a 6" lift and install 35's, would a 3.7 gear ratio be okay for me?

Better get official ford one or ford roush one and get peace of mind. Way better than buying these outside brands.

how comfy is the BFG AT KO2 compared to Nitto ridge grappler? I'm having the 35 Nitto trail grappler and it's ok on the road, but just thinking about more comfortable tire next time.

People are dumb, leave it factory or Cool rims 1 inch up is acceptable. I don't see a purpose of lifted truck unless you be doing rock climbing competion, or run over junk vehicles at your local State Fair.

It floods everywhere in Florida so half of the trucks here are lifted

Either bald, fatty, and short people gets a lift on his her truck and that's a fact. Oh, and don't forget a long beard and those hunting stickers all over the truck, and yes I do have a truck but I don't have to lift it up to feel tall 6'4" I'm already tall enough...

Has anyone experience people being asshole to you after you got a lifted truck ?? Like random people in parking lots? It never happened when I had a lifted truck in 2005 but things are different now and it seems like people assume im a prick or they are dicks just wondering if anyone else has had this happen?

I am installing a set of 5100 Bilstein shocks and going with 35x12.5x20 my question is do I need to re gear since I’m not going with an actual lift? 2017 Ford F-150 5.0

Be cause lift suspension don’t need to be touch when you lift your truck
Darwin Nagamine (4 months ago)
You don’t have to torc your lift suspension at all once you get the lift suspension and torc it you don’t need to torc it at all once is on you don’t have to touch or torc anything

I have a 2015 3.5 and I'm looking at at a 4 inch lift and 35s. I have 3.55s and occasionally tow a 20 foot boat. Is it worth the upgrade to 3.73s or 4.10s?

BDS is the lift system you want/need.
GUNRUNNER420 (6 months ago)
It's a fraction of the cost to go ahead and get a fx4 loaded or a platinum and fo get and install your own lift and tires for a fraction of the cost. I bought a 2019 ram long horn Laramie and put a procomp stage 1 ..1600 for lift. 1000 to install . 2k for rims and tires . 4600 out the door compared to financing and 10 to 15000k.. The manufacture of the vehicle by law still have to keep the warranty on the truck! Procomp also has a power train warranty no questions asked !
Stuart N (5 months ago)
not everyone knows about the whole “law” that manufacturers have to follow to keep vehicles under warranty.
RILLA MAN (6 months ago)
That’s good to know. I love lifted trucks, but I rather buy it already done. And since I know I’ll never pull anything, my tires will last a very long time. I love F-150’s.
Steven Walsh (6 months ago)
Also think long and hard (heh) about the type of lift you want. Keep in mind that lifts of certain heights or certian styles of lifts will require other work to be done to the vehicle, or may damage the vehicle if not prepared for properly. some examples:
-at least in my experience, lifting above 2.5" without any mechanism for correcting front axle CV angles or upper control arm (UCA) ball joint angles will increase wear and tear and could cause eventual parts failure; this is why 4" and higher lifts usually include differential drop brackets and new steering knuckles, and some 3" lifts will come with improved UCAs
-4" and higher lifts with new crossmembers require you to CUT THE TRUCK'S FRAME, i.e. you are stuck with that lift kit unless you can weld your frame back together
-you may need to get longer brake lines if you are not comfortable with using the brake line extension brackets (some adjusting of the hard metal lines may be required, which makes me nervous, personally)
just a few extra things to think about
Michael Smith (6 months ago)
So just curious, if I wanted to get a job at a dealership, which trade school would you recommend for that?
Porcelain Throne (6 months ago)
Fuel economy is irrelevant if your driving a lifted truck. Lol.
Alan Simmns (7 months ago)
Wish the NTSB would flat out Ban these Trucks! They are too big ,way more than anyone needs , they Scream “ Look at me I’m a Arrogant human who loves taken up way to much space” If was up to me without proof of the absolute need for a vehicle this big , you can’t buy it🤦♂️
Porcelain Throne (6 months ago)
@Alan Simmns I live in the country on a decent size property. I tow loads up to 6000#. I also work in a national wildlife refuge. I agree though I see many a large truck sitting in apartment parking lots in the city. And too pretty to be actually work trucks.
Alan Simmns (6 months ago)
Porcelain Throne , I’m curios besides the typical excuse of “ because I wanted one” what do you or other buyers do to justify an absolute need for a truck this big? don’t say I hunt maybe once a year. I’ll bet 90% of these lifted trucks never leave the pavement! A vehicles main purpose is to get you from point A to B,that’s it.. so in theory a oversized vehicle is just Arrogant..
Porcelain Throne (6 months ago)
Glad it's not up to you.

Trucks a great but I’d rather buy a truck like a king ranch or something more high end then lift it and do lift and tires my self I have 2 lifted trucks one being a obs F-150 actually a 1996 lifted 6inches with 20x12 tis wraped In toyo mt. It’s going to be my show truck/weekend driver only thing is it’s not so fast because it has a old reliable 300 i6 5 speed. My other is a 13 F-150 with a 3.5 6 inch lift with 20x10 fuels wrapped in general grabber at2 which I’m switching to toyo soon as I can I don’t care for the generals. Something else that will help the trucks slapping a programmer on Ive got a mbrp exhaust on mine and I’m about to get a programmer too it helps a lot from what I have heard little quicker boost for better take off esp when towing

never will because trucks are usually bought for workers and they already complain about the bed too high to constantly lift crap in and out all day long

QUESTION: I am looking at a 2016 Silverado 1500 with the v8 6spd. This truck is at a dealership and has a 6inch lift with 35" tires.. how can I tell if it has the correct gears in it? I think this configuration for this truck calls for a 4.11 or even a 4.56 ratio. But how can I tell if the truck has the new gears of the dealership doesn't know? Please reply asap. Thank you

Lower offset* pushes the wheel out not higher
Town and Country TV (10 months ago)
You are correct! But when you push the wheel out, you typically have to have a little more lift to clear the same size tire.
UserX (10 months ago)
Better to be geared too low any day of the week. In my opinion there is no such thing. Even stock I prefer 4:10 for the get up and go. Especially in reverse with a manual. It's getting harder to get proper gear ratios with all the EPA mileage demands in modern pickups though. My new Rubicon has 4:10 stock. My new F150 has 3:55. Not horrible!. The 10 speed transmissions though have vastly compensated for the tall gearing. You can always lock out 10th gear and have pretty good pep with 10 speed in sport mode. Drive an Eco Boost 2.7 with 10 speed in Sport mode. You will not believe it.

The white truck? If so, those are 20" SCA exclusive wheels
Drew werd (11 months ago)
Dont buy a lifted truck, it wasnt designed for that. Dealers get 300% profit off of that extra and in the end, the owner gets additional unusual wear and repair. Buy an ATV or winch.

five things to know before buying a lifted truck
Mak 6 (11 months ago)
The best truck is a stock truck. I have never driven a lifted truck (no matter how good or expensive the lift and wheels are) that actually drives well or at least close to factory. When I was buying my Tundra CrewMax the sales guy was soo annoying with his attempt to add on sales. Kept trying to convince me to buy a lift and wheel package from them. I just told him that if I wanted a truck for heavy off-road I’d just buy a Raptor. As it is, I love my truck for my use. Drives like a caddy in stock form.

Wheel diameter has NOTHING to do with offset , it's all about the actual offset measurements based on width , you can get a 22x10 and a 20x10 both with -24 offset same as 20x12 and 22x12 -44 ITS WIDTH NOT DIAMETER ...... and as far as gear ratio goes I have a 2017 ram 2500 on 37s with 4.56 gears and I get 23mpg highway and on stock 3.42 gear i got 17mpg highway because It needed extra fuel to get it moving

I worked at a off-road truck shop , honestly I’m a fan of leveling kits they are easy to remove , install you can easily get one done for 500 with a alignment compared to spending 5k plus on a suspension lift with wheels tires . They maintain factory ride for the most part just my opinion. Lifts these days are all don’t for looks anyways , and never seen see a piece of dirt lol.

What rims are those?
Christian Sulak (1 year ago)
The gear ratio tips are off not to bash the guy but you dont just say yes 3.73 gears because im towing your tire size is huge in this throwing 37s on 3.73 will destroy your ring and pinion . if youre thinking gears look up bleepingjeeps how to select gear ratio

I learned my lesson years ago. Ball joints wear out all the time. Front ends wear out much faster. After 10 years of driving a truck with 6 inch lift and 35s I was jumping for joy to get back into a factory stock truck!!! Factory drives so much better, lots more power, better gas mileage, no ball joint eating every year.
