As part of our continuing series "On the Road," Steve Hartman meets 15-year-old Christian Lunsford, who took it upon himself to repay 78-year-old widow Tona Herndon after his father robbed her during her most vulnerable moment.

"no money changed hands" again with the crappy writing. YES IT DID. The amazing man gave back the money to pay for his fathers' crime! That amazing woman accepted his money. She then took HER money and gifted the child. I doubt she could afford that given the recent theft of 700$ and her husband death. They both choose to sacrifice. Your company needs to choose your WORDS wisely enough to not DIMINISH the great acts you report on. There are many times in these snippets that ACTIONS speak much better than your poor copy ever could.

This is a good teaching lesson for a Bible Study. I added this to my Facebook with this caption.
Sins of the Father
In this passage, the prophet Ezekiel explains generational curses. "The soul that sinneth, it shall die." Generational curses come when the next generation accepts, embraces, and enters into the sins the previous generation. Generational curses are broken when the sons (or daughters) of the previous generation say no to that sin, therefore the sin is not carried on to the next generation. They embrace righteousness and shun the sin of their fathers. In this story, the boy is right by saying, "You are not who your parents are. I mean, even if they do raise you, you can become whoever you want to be." His father was in prison for taking money from a grief-stricken elderly woman who just lost her husband two weeks prior. He was willing to pay for a debt he didn't owe because of the transgression of his father. (Interesting. Jesus paid for a debt He didn't owe dying for the sin of humanity on the cross. Think about that too.)
Ezekiel 18:20 Modern English Version (MEV)
20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the punishment of the iniquity of the father, nor shall the father bear the punishment of the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.
Here is the clip. It is a heart touching story of a boy who reached out to the victim to make amends for his imprisoned and estranged father.

I really don't know how to feel about this story to be honest. The teenager is clearly a great kid and seems to have the heart in the right place. All respect to him.
However, I find it horribly sad that he thinks he's somehow to blame or is responsible for what his father did. That has to be an awful feeling to live your life with. Of course he's not responsible for his father's actions, his father is.
So the story is both really nice and heartwarming as well as sort of sad to me. The poor kid blaming himself or feeling responsible is terrible, but his actions are obviously great.

This young man is no less than an angel. I won't judge his father because he's clearly lost his way but I will say she will realize one day what he's missed and deeply regret it because that young man is remarkable and I bet him mom is one heck of a good person too. We love you buddy and you are in our prayers. You give us hope in humanity.
