We need to educate the part timers more... Hold a meeting with them to give them more information. They are done with work in the AM by the time it's drivers start time
Louie louie (8 months ago)
So once a driver leaves then the most seniority 22.4 driver will move into that spot. Then they hire another 22.4 to take that 22.4 guy that moved up. Either way this contract sucks our local sucks our whole union sucks
Louie louie (8 months ago)
All new drivers are 22 4. If started after aug 1st.

We need to do away with a national all together . Xx and hour is one area isn't the same as Xx a hour in another .

What's your email address Tyler binder
Louie louie (8 months ago)
Same in Colorado. Only 9.5 hrs here. Some drivers hate it. Some like me like it. Not working 12 14 everyday.

While its true you lose your right to vote if you opt out. In no way does it make you a scab. There are those that will say anything including shaming you to get your dues. Hows that paying your dues and right to vote working out for ya?? You would still would be covered by the collective agreement including representation. Which would include "just cause" language that is typically written into most labor contracts. SO collective agreements would trump the "at will" employer rights. The real scabs are the ones that support or bargain 2 tier language in collective bargaining. They cease being unions at that point and should be cut off.

Was told in our hub contract won't be ratified until March or April next year

If u work at UPS and u choose to not join the Union (regardless of the current situation) you are a fool.

3 years vested to vote? Sounds lazy but sure. if this corrupt union doesn’t take away part timers dues and still keeps representing them then I say yes. That’s the least the union can do if we are going to take away their voice. Honestly, what we should change is the 2/3 language that fucked us over. that should be a major concern going forward. Whats funny is we didnt need 2/3 votes for a strike authorization but we need it to vote no on a contract. LoL that’s hilarious. I could be picketing with only a few thousand yes strike votes out of 200k employees. Back to part timers, make this sellout union earn their dues when the 3 years is up. We’ve ignored and screwed over part timers for 40 years then we expected them to save us? Come on, part timers are treated like second class citizens if we’re going to be truthful. It’s no wonder they don’t care. We aren’t united. When I was a part timer, I didn’t see any union officials until it was election/contract year. They were taking my money every month but never coming to see me. Funny ...

I talked to a UPS freight guy on my route he's saying they find out tomorrow if they walk out ! Solidarity with them ,and here's a interesting article that showed up on my feed. https://www.freightwaves.com/news/parcel/ups-contract-ratification-anger
THE KING EZE (8 months ago)
YEAH.......22.4 WILL EVENTUALLY PHASE OUT 22.3/ RPCD & THEN ALL 22.4 WILL EXIST......THAT'S THEIR PLAN
THE KING EZE (8 months ago)
LOL UNION WASN"t MORONS CAUSE THEY WANTED IT TO HAPPEN CAUSE THEY GOT PAID OFF
JEFFREY (8 months ago)
THE KING EZE LoL could be. 22.4 isn’t going away that’s clear. It’s a concession and the union were morons for allowing it to exist
Rudy Corona (8 months ago)
how about making it if you dont vote its automatically counted as a no vote

Been thru 2 strikes here and in both cases i heard people say the same thing. Trust me, when we strike most will not cross the picket line. People have a way of figuring out the $$ situation.. I took up another part time job at that pt in 97 when i was part time. To have "scab" attached to your name WILL stay with u for your entire UPS career. Always walk with your Brother's and Sisters. NEVER cross our line!! And i work in a right to work state too!

You don’t need a book to inform new members about unions. It is up to every union member to grab ahold of a new member and educate . You need to get rid of so many part timers, you should be made full time by 6 months ! NEW LEADERSHIP !!!!!

UPS Freight revenue increased 11% on higher pricing and heavier shipments. Third quarter operating margin was 6.8%; adjusted operating margin expanded 120 basis points to 7.4%. Operating profit was up 24% to $242 million and adjusted operating profit increased 33% to $260 million. Who would close the doors on a profitable company?

I talked to the union about helpers paying union dues they said they have to cuz if not it opens the door for management to work cuz we would have "non union" employees (the helpers) working without being grievance on so why not have management work

I think the idea of part timers should have to be there 5 years to vote is a great idea also since we all have a cell phone why not make a voting app or have a number to call and use your employee ID number to prove its you.
patrick otoole (8 months ago)
That's how we vote... On the phone
110% America Loving PATRIOT (8 months ago)
It was Overnite is who they bought. But they aren't gonna just shut the doors cause they have contracts with customers who signed up with ups or ups freight cause we offered both services so why not have one carrier!
jonette9685 (8 months ago)
The thing about striking... U have more people who can't afford than people who could so they'll be willing to cross and work... Not gonna help make the strike not last long
jonette9685 (8 months ago)
@SaturnBlade no ur right we have the power but since most didn't use it to vote I'm pretty sure they won't use it to stand up against the company... Like my building is full of employees less than a year cuz it's a new building.. I'm sure more than 1/2 would cross the picket line if offered more $$$ so close to the holidays... It's those people that would hurt our striking power
SaturnBlade (8 months ago)
Yeah but now's the time to do so now during peak season.
Janoy Cresva (8 months ago)
Having the strike vote before the vote for the contract is SOOOO slimy.
