Those trains are going too slow to qualify as a crash..
R Clark (1 month ago)
Really, well here is the next day and tell me that is NO crash.... You lack knowledge ;). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XD1sJF2AKg&lc=z23kwxfpjk2uf12bj04t1aokgcwzvwqvmqtg5jgvawcobk0h00410

why is everyone so mad?? it was a good video, and you got to see a heritage unit, and hear a crash lol
R Clark (1 month ago)
Preston, thanks and I agree with your thoughts ;). I was just trying to share some of my video footage and surprised to stir a hornets nest. Have a good day.

I must have supersonic ears I heard it.

Sorry no crash at the end. I think the cars that came off were further back. Thank you
rick botkin (6 months ago)
You have to have bionic ears to hear that so-called derailment: news flash: there wasn't one; you've been had!
R Clark (6 months ago)
You really think so, here is what resulted in what I HEARD! No fake news here.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XD1sJF2AKg&t=708s&app=desktop

Sounds like cars being cut out not like a derailment..
R Clark (7 months ago)
Maybe so but if you know the area and the fact they were crossing the trestle one would know it was the sound of steel hitting steel plus they usually never have any reason to cut cars there and in this case they did afterwards taking the ones left on the track at the tail end off.

Hey y'all just in case anyone didn't know, it's now a FEDERAL LAW that you can't be on or at the side ofthe tracks. I spoke to a NFS rep at a festival last year. Now if you're caught on the tracks it's a FELONY charge.
DaryllnNicole Dixon (10 months ago)
@R Clark You too Mr. Clark
R Clark (10 months ago)
No biggie, good info for the uninformed as you’re right many don’t realize the power and seriousness of trespassing on RR property and the inherent dangers of RR’s in general if not smart. Take care.
DaryllnNicole Dixon (10 months ago)
Yeah sorry I have seen idiot drivers go around the gates when I was filming too but NS won't put cameras up( yes I spoke to NS again) because of issues with angles & reading tags. I apologize Mr. Clark, guess I'll keep any information to myself.
DaryllnNicole Dixon (10 months ago)
@R Clark I was told by Norfolk Southern a a Representative from their company. I thought it would be nice to share this bit of information for those who don't know. Im not interested in getting into a pissing contest. I was hoping that that little bit of information would keep everyone out of trouble and avoid jail time & hefty fines. Again once in a while I do it,but didn't know about that new law, I was fined $500 next time ( there will be no next time) I would get locked up. I still do it when my job & now getting ready to move allows it. I am sorry you took it the wrong way. But please understand I was just making ppl ware of this.
R Clark (10 months ago)
@DaryllnNicole Dixon , "being a jerk", I'm stating facts just like you are and have the proper numbers on my phone should I see stupid actions being taken. The beauty of reading a message without tone as I'm just trying to make sure you know that I know, lol.

Lots of snow though
Greg LaPlante (11 months ago)
I did not hear it.
R Clark (11 months ago)
Ya, many have said that even though it’s clear to me lol. I guess being a mechanic gives me that sick sense, I dunno.

Dude I want my 13mins on my life waste of time trying to gain views with false info buddy lol
Railfan 51 (1 year ago)
You should really disable the camera shutter sound when taking pics and video its pretty annoying!!!!
R Clark (1 year ago)
To disable doesn’t make sense as that would mean to not take any stills as that is the natural sound of the camera. Sometimes doing both has its disadvantages but here is the still shot I took. I should have have muted it in the video processing looking back on it as I do on some others. http://www.railpictures.net/photo/428270/

Too close to get a good view of the heritage unit, what a pinhead
max shelltrack (8 months ago)
Should've stood in the light unless you weren't expecting that engine.
R Clark (1 year ago)
The vantage point was ideal for me as I shoot stills and video and I was able to frame the train http://www.railpictures.net/photo/428270/

Unsubscribed, un liked
Jim Langley (1 year ago)
@R Clark You were at a crossing, the traffic stops for the train. If you knew the train was going to be there you could have scouted a better vantage point.
R Clark (1 year ago)
AOk, Next time I’ll back up into the trees or get where all the traffic is, dubba!!
What caused the train to hit the tresle? (sorry for spelling)
R Clark (1 year ago)
I believe the roadbed was in such disrepair it finally gave way just before the trestle as most of the loaded train passed over it.
c peck (1 year ago)
beautiful shots, and the camera is getting great sound. The constant shutter noise of the still camera is annoying though.
Carole Raggio (3 months ago)
You did a great job.
R Clark (1 year ago)
Well I’m doing both at once and try to take still shots at a distance but sometimes I can’t and take the video. It’s better than giving one or the other as I upload some of my shots plus I want still of what I can get and I’m aware it’s evident sorry

dlar 33 (1 year ago)
That wasn’t the sound of the crash, that was the sound of the air dumped.
R Clark (1 year ago)
Ok, sorta heard everything from me trying to get views for money (not even signed up for it, lol) and the loaded cars are just loaded with snow and not coal and so on, ugh. Thanks for the update reply and take care.
dlar 33 (1 year ago)
But a believe you
dlar 33 (1 year ago)
Wasn’t trying to accuse you buddy, just trying to make conversation. I hear it now, but it just sounded like the air being dumped, seems like metal on metal with a few cars would be a series of crash noises not one.
R Clark (1 year ago)
Let's see, were you there? If not you're like the rest of the Monday morning quarterbacks!! From what the crew said and what I saw right after I would think a few 240,000 lb cars hitting the sides of the steel trestle crossing the river would have a sharp steel sound as they derailed. I've heard air as cars uncouple before and in person this was not what I heard and my years of being a mechanic told me otherwise too, but suit yourself.
Mattie the miner Icmhs. (1 year ago)
I heard a pop the train broke a coupler that's common.
R Clark (1 year ago)
Just in case people are doubting or want to know where it derailed and haven't seen this video of mine here you go. It DID happen and despite some thinking otherwise, the cars are LOADED with coal and were rerailed with them full and not just snow inside, lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XD1sJF2AKg&t=1s
Marilyn Desrosiers (1 year ago)
Wasn't much of a sound. I had to go through more than once to hear anything. Hope everyone was OK.
R Clark (1 year ago)
The sound was louder in person and you have to remember that it was snowing pretty good and that alone would have absorbed some of the sound plus it was around the bend. Since the track speed is 10 there were no injuries except for creating a long process opening the line back up.
Earth Angel (1 year ago)
EARTH ANGEL😇 GOSH, I never saw this channel before!! And a local one at that! I used to be a freight train follower myself some years back, and knew every crew! Did you just start videoing recently? Real nice catch; always loved catching trains, especially when it was snowing! 👍😍🚂👍

Trainzfan14, I appreciate the time to put your remark that is 100% true. That person is wrong on many fronts and as I put in their original comment I have not made a penny with my Youtube videos as I have not set up for it and I knew the area very well where I was and plus with my scanner easily could tell the sound in person with the crews distress call right after that it was the train. I put my videos on here and want to be as factual as I can and do it with all my time and money invested in the equipment and glad some appreciate that but you always have some rotten ones in any facet of things. Thanks again, Rich.

Scott Natale wow rude do you ever think before u comment? Also R Clark just ignore or block these haters. U get a thumbs up from me.

Do the tracks being in disrepair cause most derailments?
ElfNet Designs (8 months ago)
yard tracks are some of the worse..
Chuck Abbate (1 year ago)
No just anything owned by career criminal Timothy Mellon.
Bill Moran (1 year ago)
Charles Brooks , I've run lots of trains on tracks that are severely in disrepair. Even with hazmat. There are many miles of 10 mph track in New England. It's actually surprising there aren't more derailments. Usually derailments at low speed just require re-railing one or two cars. It's not like the wreck on class 1 main lines with 50 mph track speeds.
Matt Moschkau (1 year ago)
Track has been known to be a cause of derailments, but it’s rare to find trains on tracks that would be considered in a state of disrepair.
Brian Slattum (1 year ago)
9:27 sounded like a train where did it derail, that sound could of been anything

Key Lock The only thing I heard was a sound like a car driving through a water puddle.
Key Lock (1 year ago)
Sorry, but I didn't hear a thing out of the ordinary in this video. It may be recorded to soft for some to hear. Just know I couldn't hear anything like what you described and I had my speakers cranked up just in case it was recorded very soft, since this would be in the distance. Not saying it isn't there, but I couldn't hear it.
R Clark (1 year ago)
Here is the aftermath and this was just around the bend of the video above.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XD1sJF2AKg&t=001s
R Clark (1 year ago)
"Anything" not if you were there and being a mechanic by trade the sound of heavy steel hitting steel is pretty obvious and seconds after the sound (cars hitting the trestle around the bend) the crew radioed in saying the train had just gone into emergency. That sound was the cars hitting the trestle and maybe more clear in person but nonetheless still can be heard on the video.
Bill Hunter (1 year ago)
Are they still running this train? I though they had shut down the power plant in Bow. Or is that still in the works? I remember years ago going to a ball game in Manchester and watching the coal go by, just beyond the right field fence.
sundance2005 (2 years ago)
Crash, guess I must not know what a crash is cause all I saw was a bunch of train cars going by.
R Clark (1 year ago)
Here is the video of the aftermath as the crash was the sound of the metal cars hitting the trestle...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XD1sJF2AKg&t=001s
R Clark (2 years ago)
Maybe you do or don't but you didn't READ what I put and I actually have it on the tape as at 9:27 you can hear the actual cars hitting the trestle. The "cars you saw going by" was before and after, just simple paying attention and no curve balls here to get what I was saying, thanks.
