Do you guys have any questions? Items that you want more info on? We can update this thread the next time we're in the parks!
anth18 (9 days ago)
it's a long story and i won't bore you with the details but, if you're ever hard up for content, please do a video about the watch store in Disneyland and, if possible, show what sort of watches they currently offer and the price ranges; in particular for the higher end watches. thanks!

Family of 5 going to Disney next month. Do we each need a Max pass or can I check into the rides for us all? I have twins that are 2 yrs old so I know their tickets are free. This is our first time taking the kids and I’m low key already stressing lol but so excited.
Katherine (1 month ago)
Happy Place Explorers I ate that Mickey Mouse shaped ice cream 🍦 lol 😆 thank you for all that information! I missed Disneyland so much and it is very expensive to get to Disneyland from Hawaii😔

This was really informative. I am coming from Trinidad with my husband and kids.
Happy Place Explorers (5 days ago)
Thanks for watching! It's gone up in price a little bit but this still gives you a good idea of the cost of a day.
rodney cross (8 days ago)
I enjoyed your video the most of the many Disneyland videos on YouTube. It gave a good overview of a Disneyland (& Calif Adventure) visit with an example of the cost. Some of the other videos spoke too fast & was difficult to take in the info. The two of you are very pleasant, also which makes seeing your whole video more enjoyable. Thanks for your great effort on this!
Happy Place Explorers (8 days ago)
Thanks! We appreciate that! And thank you for watching! :)

good video. i wish more people would talk about the prices. but i was wondering, in regard to the food, do you think it was worth what you spent? i mean was it flavorful; would it have been better to eat someplace outside the park then returned later? that sort of thing. the only reason i say that is because the food you got for dinner did not look very appetizing. when i was much, much younger and my family would go to disneyland, we'd leave in the late afternoon, have dinner someplace else, take a nap at the hotel, then come back to watch the electrical parade.
Happy Place Explorers (9 days ago)
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Food is hit or miss, some places (Pizza Planet) are super disappointing while others (Cafe Orleans and Cathay Circle) are insanely good but also VERY expensive. My suggestion would be (if you have time to do it) to do what you just said, leave, get food in downtown Disney or other places around the park and then come back. Nothing is "bad" really but there's a lot of underwhelming stuff for the price. The best reasonably priced food items that are excellent though are: Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland, the Ronto Wrap in Galaxy's Edge, & Red Rose Taverne (most days) in Fantasy Land. Cathay Circle is out of this world good but the most expensive in the whole resort. BUT IT'S AMAZING (has the same head chef as Club 33)!

Its such a rip off. Last time I went was 2007 and it was 100 bucks.
Tacos & Workouts (13 days ago)
I love your product and what you are putting out there. What program are you using for those great videos?
Happy Place Explorers (12 days ago)
Thanks so much for the kind words @Tacos&Workouts! We use both Premiere and Final Cut X, but honestly if your just starting out, iMovie will work fine. Final Cut allows us to add a lot of effects to the videos and have a little more fun with the edit. We also edit professionally for a career so that's part of the reason we use pro-sumer systems for the vlogs. Thanks for watching!

Born and raised in SoCal. Wife and I had annual pass every yr. till 2010. Haven't been back to Dland in cpl of yrs. went last Sept. One major thing we noticed ppl bringing their own food. Ppl with containers and sandwiches. The middle class can't even afford a meal in the park.
skellington (19 days ago)
Disneyland is actually a bargain if you compare it to big concerts, sporting events, skiing, etc.. Those can easily cost $100+ per person, often pushing $200 or more and that's just for a few hours of entertainment. Lift tickets can be $130+ and they only provide lifts. You can spend 15 hours in Disneyland, enjoying the really complex attractions, shops, eating places, shows, fireworks, etc. that cost WAY more to build and maintain than a sport/concert arena, etc. for $104 if you get a value ticket! It's great that Disney has finally gone to variable pricing. They actually need to raise the prices higher on the busiest days because the park gets too crowded.
skellington (19 days ago)
@Happy Place Explorers I agree. They have to also lower the maximum capacity of Disneyland and maybe not sell park hoppers on projected max capacity days and/or block out AP holders on those days (if they aren't already). The value of Disneyland goes WAY DOWN when it's smashed full of people. I like the variable pricing because it should balance out attendance somewhat and it gives low income people a better chance of being able to afford it. It would be nice if they added some super-saver days here and there where all of the stuff in the park (food/merch) is significantly discounted too. Honestly, I think they should go to a full reservation system with dynamic pricing like the airlines but I can see the pros and cons.
Happy Place Explorers (19 days ago)
I worry that that won't decrease the park capacity. It'll just make you have to pay more. lol But yes, I 100% think the cost of admission is worth your experience! Thanks for watching!
Vax Not (28 days ago)
Rather than doing a $199 park-hopper, if you are local, you can get a 3-day (1 park per day) pass for $201.

What is dole whip?
Happy Place Explorers (1 month ago)
A dole whip is pineapple soft served. It's nothing special necessarily but a Disney staple at the parks when you are in Adventureland. If you like pineapple, it's a must have tho! Thanks for watching!
Anthony Ashley (1 month ago)
Any discount ticket places
Happy Place Explorers (1 month ago)
Not really. If you are a SoCal resident they are offering an amazing deal right now, but otherwise it's about the same everywhere. There are a few time throughout the year where there are AP discounts that annual pass holders can potentially get you, but that's about it.
Joe Taylor (1 month ago)
Go on Weekday Monday to Thursday then the price is only $104 per park. And buy it on the Disneyland App for faster service.

Awesome video !! That is just for 2 people on average !! Can’t imagine how much for a family of 4 !! If you bring your own water bottle I don’t think 🤔 you will save that much-maybe a few dollars but that is some savings. Please do more of these videos !!

Eden Sam Thanks for watching! Well try to do more vacation planning and tips and tricks videos this year! :)
Steven Downs (2 months ago)
Hi, our family is going to DCA and Disneyland in May next year. We are from Australia and wanting to know if you need to tip at any of the merchandise or food places?
Steven Downs (2 months ago)
Thank you for the reply. It’s our first time to the US. We are excited to check out the parks. We booked park hopper tickets through our travel agent. We will be taking snacks and water in a backpack to keep costs down
Happy Place Explorers (2 months ago)
Hey there and thanks for watching! You don't need to tip at any of the merchandise places, so don't worry about that. If you go to a sit down restaurant, the standard in the US is if your service was excellent, you usually tip 20%. Otherwise the standard is somewhere between 15% and 20%. If you go up to any sort of fast service place (So getting a corn dog or chicken tenders, you don't need to tip there.)
Stewie T (3 months ago)
I love everything you said. But you forgot to let people know about certain days to go as well. Because tickets cost can change on the days you go. As a AP holder i agree with everything you say. Spending the day disney can be alot of money if you know how to plan it out. I love you guys
Stewie T (3 months ago)
@Happy Place Explorers why yes I do :). I know always bring a hydroflask with me so I can fill up on water or bring my own water bottles. I try to spend less at Disney by getting more bang out of my money with foods and snacks. Usually helps when I bring snack of my own when I can but I tend not to buy snack as much. I maybe can spend the most if I really do it, about $25-30 at the parks knowing what I want to eat and munch on.
Happy Place Explorers (3 months ago)
Thanks @Stewie T! And great point, peak time ticket pricing is a great point to bring up because it is so drastically different. This video showcases the worst case scenario/most expensive day you could go, but yeah... man it get's pricey! Do you have any personal tips that you use when you go to the parks to save money? Thanks for watching!
td206D3 (4 months ago)
I love your Edna illustration... those are so fun. (And yeah... cha-ching: I've spent nearly $6,000 staying at Disney for a few days. VS. the same to be in Thailand for a month, including airfare. I love Disneyland but it is outrageously expensive)
Happy Place Explorers (4 months ago)
Ain't it the truth! But gosh, it sure is great! lol Thanks! Animation Academy is quickly becoming the go to thing for us to do on a hot day! And thanks for watching!
Alicia Mistressoftheundead (4 months ago)
even if u pack lunches you are going to be hungry later but yeah packing lunches might save money
Happy Place Explorers (4 months ago)
Yeah, it is pretty hard to save money at Disneyland (just because you'll want to buy everything! lol) But there are small tips and tricks here and there. Thanks for watching!
Alicia Mistressoftheundead (4 months ago)
i think if u dont buy any souvenirs and share your food you can save money. but who dosen't buy anything lol. but the ticket prices and parking and food will still get ya more people more expensive it will get
Alicia Mistressoftheundead (4 months ago)
everything in your wallet. don't expect to come back with money unless your rich.
Olivia Meza (4 months ago)
Also on Harbor Blvd and Katella Ave there is a gift store that sells tons of Disney Merc for half the price that you would get in the park.

Right?! You'd think someone would have jumped on this train by now! lol We appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Sara D'Souza (4 months ago)
The max pass is also great because you get every photo that they take of you for that same price which is so great 15 for all your pictures is amazing the package after you leave the park is 70 so big savings there.
Happy Place Explorers (4 months ago)
100%. I think you are right! The ease of Max Pass is amazing and makes your day much better but if you are using the ride/photo pass stuff correctly, Max Pass is a steal! Thanks for watching!
Kevin 310 (5 months ago)
Enjoyed the video. One important cost you did not include...parking! As passholders it maybe free for you, but otherwise, i think it is already over $20 per car.
Happy Place Explorers (4 months ago)
Yeah, we realized right when we uploaded it that we forgot that! lol Also, $25 a car. It's crazy! Thanks for watching.

THIS is a fair point. But it's certainly something worth saving up for! Thanks for watching @Jeffy!
covercalls88 (5 months ago)
How much does it cost for a day at Disneyland? Answer: TOO DAMN MUCH. Add about another $24 to park your car. As a season pass holder in the years 1990 through 2002 when my kids were growing up. Number of visits for one year, about 100. I think the a season pass varied from $99 to $169. I loved Disneyland back them, and not as crowded. Now having grand children, in 2017, I started buying the Platinum annual pass from Knott's Berry Farm which cost me $180 which included parking, entrance to their water park Soak City, and a few other over priced perks. Grand kids get a gold pass for about $120, which includes Soak City. I will probably return to being a annual season pass holder Disneyland in a few years when the grand kids are about 10. I would buy a Signature pass.
covercalls88 (5 months ago)
@Happy Place Explorers Here are a few hints to save you some bucks. you can add on parking to the regular and Gold pass I think it runs $70, season passes good starting Jan 1 through Dec 31. NO BLACKOUT DAYS. If you like the water park and If both of you go together all the time then one can buy the Platinum pass and the other can buy the gold pass and while you are together in the park use the Platinum card holder to get into the parking lot and buy food and merchandise as the Platinum card holder can get better discounts. If you buy your 2020 season pass soon you also get one free pass for most of what is left for 2019. Check out their web site for more info. Unlike Disneyland there aren't really any dark rides at Knott]s except the mine train. Most rides are roller coasters or thrill rides.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
Great tips! Thanks! Also, Knotts is the only pass we don't have yet. Should probably jump on that soon! lol
covercalls88 (5 months ago)
@Happy Place Explorers Forgot to thank you for the upload, and I appreciate the tome and effort. I've done many videos for a company a year ago so I know what it takes. Since my retirement at the beginning of the year I've gone with the grand kids to Knotts about 40 times and Soak City about 15 times. I figure parking alone would cost me over $800, if not for my Platinum pass. I plan to wait until the youngest grandchild is over 6 before switching to the Disneyland. At that age they no longer need a stroller and can walk a little faster. My typical Disneyland visits were on Friday nights 8 until closing, early Sunday morning until about 1:00 in the afternoon, and many special events, it is why I went there about 100 times in a year. As a money saving tip I believe as your Signature lasts one year from the time you start. Near expiration go several times if possible. Wait a month or two before renewing. I did that over my 12 year stretch and had to buy only 10 annual passes.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
Yeah, it is pretty pricey. We have the Signature pass and just even having the vlog, it's worth it because of how often we are there, but you are totally right! If you are just a casual visitor, even with the signature (which is the way to go) you have to go like 6 or 7 times to make it really worth it, which is a lot if you are far away from the parks. You could consider doing the FLEX pass. (it's their new pass, and i've heard really great things if you are a casual Disneyland visitor) But i haven't used it personally. Thanks for watching!
Lisa DuBois (5 months ago)
You forgot about the parking cost
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
Yeah, we know... We realized after we uploaded it. lol $25 is a lot too... But thanks for watching!
rick nineg (5 months ago)
Great summary! Don’t forget the $25 for the cheapest parking unless of course you have a hotel nearby which is almost $200 a night but great video!
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
Thanks, Rick! Yeah, as soon as I uploaded I was like... "AH, I FORGOT PARKING!" lol But thanks for watching! We appreciate it.
Cody Leon (5 months ago)
first thing first would be parking not the ticket
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
Yeah, we realized after we recorded the video that we forgot that right off the bat... ugh. lol Thanks for watching!
Gumer Zambrano (5 months ago)
Yikes 😂 I think going to Six Flags gets you more bang for your buck. And much better rides
Mike B (5 months ago)
$149 for a single day?! Man what is wrong with them, and to justify things by making it seem like 3 days is the same as price as 2 1-days, or a 4th day is only $25 more... yeah sure blame the lack of crowds etc on pass blackout days etc, but fine no one is going to want to go for $150 if they just want to spend the day there. And worse only $8 less for 3-9 years old, where if you're "unlucky" on having a kid who's short (or just young) you basically remove every A-list major ride.
Mike B (5 months ago)
@Happy Place Explorers Thanks for making the video, I was just there in May with my 3 year old... although as far as the front gate was concerned he was 2 and under *evil look*. But the prices for 3-day tickets was less than $200, I get "peak season" pricing but yikes that's just more than a 50% increase in the ticket cost.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
This was the pricing during the peak season, so it will get a little cheaper as we approach the slightly slower season. But yeah, man it can get (and has gotten) pricey. But I do think they've reached peak pricing, and we should start seeing better deals and promotions in the future to try and drive people back to the parks. Because I do think they are a little scared that attendance has dropped. But we should see. Thank you for watching the video tho! We appreciate it!
articowl2 (5 months ago)
Just remember it’s possible to go to Disney if you budget for it. Clear back in the day (60s, 70s etc), people complained about Disney costing too much. That’s why when I was a kid, I had a Disneyland bank that I added money to weekly. By the time summer came for the family trip to Disneyland, we had enough. Don’t let the cost get you down. Just save a little consistently and before you know it, you’ll be enjoying Disney.
D. D. A. (5 months ago)
I'm 63. I went to DL every year once I was 6. My dad saved his change every day. Didn't take thousands like now for fam of 4 let me it does now, but we were simple income people (blue collar) and my parents managed it.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
For sure! This is probably the best point to be made. Disney isn't impossible to go to, it just takes time to make sure that you've got enough saved up to have the best experience possible. OR also make sure you know ways to save a few dollars here and there by bringing a water bottle, or packing snacks. etc. All great points! :) This video was made to give people an idea of what to expect when you get there, if you've never been. Thanks for watching!
Mark B. (5 months ago)
Single rider lines really are the best wait time.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
For sure! If you are there by yourself or even with a friend, it's the way to go! But if your going as a family, it doesn't work out quite as well. Either way, great tip! Thanks for watching!
Mark B. (5 months ago)
I spent $400 in just 1 day.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
Yeah, Man! One day at Disney starts to add up quick!

So to get to the point basically don’t go to Disney if your rents not paid and you only have a part time job👌🏼 Expect to pay lots of Mula💸💸💸💸💰💰💰💵💵💵💴💴💴💶💶 The Food is crazy expensive but I love this video good work🙌🏼🙌🏼
D. D. A. (5 months ago)
I feel blessed to have gone year after year in 60's, '70's, but just have no desire anymore. I hope to see natural life in Mexico next year and move there. I love the videos though for helping remember fun memories.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
I suppose that's all good advice to live by. Make sure you can keep a roof over you head before you go to Disney. lol Thanks for the kind words and for watching!
Yudith Baybeeh (5 months ago)
Do you recommend going Mid-September on a weekday? What time do you recommend getting there? Do you have to get max pass for both parks and do you get it at the park or online?
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
That's a great time of year to go! Honestly, I've been checking the wait times on week days this month and it is DEAD during the day! So, if you can, yeah, a week day in September and plan to go earlier in the day. If you can be there for park open, you'll probably be able to get everything done in both parks before 6pm. (At least everything you'd like to do). Depending on what ticket you get (Single Park or Park Hopper) the max pass is the same price for both parks. So if you have a Park Hopper ticket you don't have to pay the $15 for each park, it's just one payment and it will work in both. You can choose to purchase it either at the front gate, online, OR just add it to your ticket on the mobile app at any point throughout the day. Thanks for all the great questions and hope they help!
Carlos Berrelleza (5 months ago)
Thank you so much , heading to disneyland on november from Mexico . Family of four defenetly getting the max pass
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
Awesome! Max Pass is totally worth it! Make sure you get one of those extra battery cells so you can keep your phone charged all day! Have a blast and thanks for watching!
Maria Jimenez (5 months ago)
What park do you recommend going first to if you do the park hopper?
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
It depends on what rides are most important to you. HOWEVER with the inclusion of Max Pass, it give you the ability to jump around a bit, because you don't need to be in a certain park to get a fast pass for a ride. I usually start with Disneyland, just because if your are there in the morning, the lines are significantly shorter than later in the day for a lot of the attractions. If you get there around open (just a little after 8) you'll be able to knock a large portion of the park out before 11am. So, I'd probably say, start at Disneyland proper. :) Thanks for watching!

Happy Place Explorers ohhh ok I thought that was the new regular price year round. I haven’t been in like a year and a half and I only spent $110 when I did go.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
In the summer during peak season (when you purchase at the gate) they're that expensive. Thanks for watching!

I am 63. I grew up going to Disneyland every year with parents and sister (yep, back in the day with A,B,C,D,& E tickets!) Last time I went was in 2005 with older teen son. It's so expensive! I really enjoyed how you presented your video. Great job. There's another couple I've seen that go very often, but honestly .....she giggles/laughs too much. Lol lol

You paid $5 to get into Disneyland?
KP K (5 months ago)
Should also note that there are different ways to purchase tickets that are legitimate like through Get Away Today, Last Minute Travel Club, or Undercover Tourist. Obviously, do your research to make sure the tickets you're getting are legitimate, but anyone buying tickets directly from Disney is missing out. My friend and I go for 4-5 days to both parks for under 400 each (something like $360-380 for park hoppers and 5 days). That's about $76 bucks a day for BOTH parks. You guys only calculated 1 day park hoppers for 2 people. Imagine getting park hoppers for multiple days through Disney with MaxPass.
KP K (5 months ago)
@Happy Place Explorers Totally! I really appreciate videos like these. Even as someone who has been to the parks many, many, many times before I still find myself shocked at how much I end up spending and how easily the money flies out the window even for just two people, like it's illustrated in your video. I can only imagine how much it would be to take along 4+ people, including kids who tend to want to buy more of the merchandise that is geared toward them.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
KP K Oh for sure, yeah it was only to set expectations of what a day on average will cost you. There are a ton of ways to cut costs by going to some of the sites your talking about but also, yeah, that’d be a whole different video. Lol But thank you for watching!

The loaded Dolewhip price really isn't any more expensive than going to your local country fair... lol! Fruit smoothie was $8 at my fair.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
Holy cow! I suppose that's true. lol Also, the loaded whip was CRAZY good. I would 100% recommend it! Thanks for watching!
Shelley C (5 months ago)
I watched this simply for a reality check. I have to travel which costs me $1500 for a four day trip, staying at a $160 per night hotel. My price doesn’t include souvenirs, which can cost $100-500, depending on the trip. This is when I travel solo! It’s too much, lol. I have canceled my Halloween trip in favor of Christmas time in early December. Thank you!!! 😁
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
It can absolutely be sobering when you add it all up... :( I was shocked when editing the video how fast everything was adding up. And we stayed reasonably conservative a lot of the day (like I could have bought way more! lol) Anyway, hope you have a blast in December and thanks for watching!

SR STYLE (5 months ago)
Excellent tips what is the avg to have an annual pass other than savings thanks
SR STYLE (5 months ago)
Happy Place Explorers ok great information thanks
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
If you go a lot, it certainly takes some stress out of getting tickets and also feeling the need to getting everything done in one day. Really tho, the savings are the biggest benefit. The discounts on food and souvenirs always end up being a lot when you consider how much your spending in the park each visit. But if you are only planning to go once or twice a year, the pass isn't probably worth it. Anything more than that tho, it might be worth looking at. Especially the FLEX option, which is great for the casual Disneyland visitor. Thanks for watching!
Yvette F (5 months ago)
Thank you for this information. It is very helpful. The annual pass is definitely something to consider. I’m planning to go with my honey in a couple months. I’m looking forward to it. Thank you both!

Technically the Blue Bayou is the most expensive restaurant in Disneyland proper for lunch & dinner not the River Belle
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
@Michelle D First of all - WHOA! I DID NOT KNOW THIS WAS EVEN A THING! Second - Yeah, that's more like something that even Disney fanatics wouldn't be able to swing financially! lol *BTW - That sounds amazing*
Michelle D (5 months ago)
Actually, technically the 21 Royal dinner is the most expensive, but no family visiting the park is likely to be looking for that (very high end, personal chef, tour of the suite above Pirates of the Caribbean) since it is $1250/person ... for one dinner.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
Yeah, this is true. That being said... I do think the prices at River Belle get pretty close. Especially for their higher end dishes. Also of notes - I liked the food better at River Belle, which was shocking to me, because going to Blue Bayou was like a dream of mine growing up and with I first had it, the atmosphere didn't disappoint, but none of my food was amazing... :( All that considers, Carthay Circle is the place to be tho, if you can save up to dine there. lol Thanks for watching!

This is just so bizarre to me since I'm used to the Disney World Fastpass+ service, which is similar to Max Pass but I think is included with the My Disney App which I might be wrong about, I usually get a bundle of park hoppers rather than buying them individually.
Happy Place Explorers (5 months ago)
Yeah, it is very different at Disneyland, but man, MaxPass is a perfect system! I can get so much done in one day with waiting in almost no lines. It's wild!

Always good to learn more about the best way to do Disneyland. I do Disneyland videos and like the passholder option, though I live in Arizona.

I’m with Michelle...I like DCA a lot more than Disneyland too! (Although I’m one of those weirdos who also loved the original things there too...we were actually there on opening day in Feb 2001)...Don’t know if you’re aware of this option for Dinner but there’s a really good All you can eat buffet at the Storytellers Cafe in the Grand Californian...NOT “cheap” but affordable-ish at $35/person and really close right through the entrance/exit between DCA and the hotel by Grizzly River Rapids

The Bao and the Lumpia at Tropical Hideaway are REALLY good, by the way...also, a very underrated quick serve is the expanded Bengal Barbecue, which tends to be on the more affordable side...The merch has gotten ridiculously expensive!...too bad that, unlike Florida, we don’t have a Character Warehouse Outlet store here (the ones near WDW sell the same shirts and merch that the parks do, maybe a few months old perhaps, for 50-80% cheaper than list price in the parks!)

edvaira6891 Bao and a Noodle shaker salad 🥗 are my favorite new go to. Not too full to ride the rides afterwards 😀

Very nice to see Michelle again! A random suggestion for anyone with a Target RedCard (credit Or Debit..)...Disney Gift Cards are 5% off,..it’s not a WHOLE lot off, but it’ll pay for your MaxPass if you’re buying the couple hundred dollars worth of gift cards needed for Park admission (or you can actually get the passes for the same 5% off)

edvaira6891 This is such great advice! Cause tickets are absolutely the most $$$ for a one day trip. It adds up so quick. Thanks!

When ever i went to Disneyland I would get a plastic pirate sword that broke almost immediately lol. Also I would get a toy gun from pirates of the Caribbean... I had a double barrel shot gun and Winchester rifle and a few pistoles and they all looked real and you could put caps to a cap gun in them. No red tips on the ends of toy guns or making them look silly back in those days
