Moving the economy is “just another day” at Norfolk Southern

417 ratings | 379233 views
Even an ordinary day at Norfolk Southern has an extraordinary impact on the American economy. That’s the theme of Norfolk Southern's latest television commercial, “Just Another Day,” which begins airing today on cable networks. “It’s a message that Norfolk Southern people are out there around the clock, quietly and reliably taking care of business,” said Frank Brown NS avp corporate communications. “With all the issues pressing for attention, it’s good to know there’s a transportation company that’s doing what it’s supposed to do and that can be counted on to keep doing it -- with no muss, no fuss.” The commercial was filmed in Atlanta’s Inman Yard under supervision of Troy Conway, training coordinator, transportation, who appears in the spot (albeit briefly) along with Katrena Brown, an NS locomotive engineer. Rhonda Broom, manager advertising and promotions, and Stacey Hugo, manager community outreach, both of Norfolk, organized the production from NS’ corporate communications department. The speaking parts are actors Bo Micadelic and Mac Wells. RP3 Agency of Bethesda, Md., produced the spot, and the director was Ray Dillman of the Wondros production company in Los Angeles. Dillman is an Emmy winner who has created commercials for AllState, the U.S. Army, American Airlines, PGA, Coca-Cola, Bank of America, and Home Depot.

I came to this commercial because I really enjoy the music in the background. Was this made just for this commercial? Or is it an actual song?
Jens Scott (3 years ago)

Anybody know this song. It's so relaxing!
Kevin Phelan (4 years ago)
Why did you edit out a black person from the original ad?
Chukwudi Okeke (4 years ago)
Song reminds me of Coldplay but not sure who it's by.

I think that fine as white dude is biracial
Terri Cox (3 years ago)
I'm biracial. I'm curious. Does it matter? Why can't he just be an attractive man, no matter what his genetics are? I think he's handsome, as well, but I what he is is immaterial.

I LOVE these two (2) guys in this commercial !!!  It's nice to see "brotherhood" like that.  :)   I used to be a Trackman for Santa Fe Railroad in Oklahoma City in 1973.

Just a note to compliment whoever is responsible for the commercials you are currently airing on CNN — the two employees chatting about their day at work. It's hard to explain why, but I find this commercial relaxing and in a sense, reassuring that all is right in our part of the world with salt-of-the-earth employees like the two gentlemen portrayed in your commercial. I'm quick to complain when I find something irritating or offensive so I think it is equally important to compliment people when praise is warranted. The RP3 Agency can be really proud of this effort.

Why does the white talk "black" and the black guy sound "white"?
Kitaara80 (3 years ago)
I didn't notice. I'm not sure what you meant by talk black or white, but I did not hear any slang used or anything like that. They were using "regular" english and I don't even think they have accents.

Kevin Phelan (4 years ago)
+rusty fenceford well the white guy was not in the original ad. it WAS a black guy. hence the dub that doesn't fit.

Three people run the railroad, now that's efficient! Rail is the MOST efficient way to move most goods on land. The only mode of transportation that's cheaper and more efficient is a cargo ship, but you needs lots of water for that! Love your ads.

Those looking for the song...try "Nathan Furst - Marshall Motors" . If its not exactly the same, its VERY similar
Chukwudi Okeke (4 years ago)
It's a good song too but it's not the same one in the commercial.
Johnathan Rivera (4 years ago)
+TheRedbeard21 do you know the exact name now or no
Char Savoie (4 years ago)
I believe the song in this commercial just might be from 009 Sound System. They have amazing music, all their songs are awesome!!
