How about yogurt from human milk?
HowStuffWorks (3 months ago)
There's been ice cream made from human milk, but not yogurt to our knowledge. Or, I mean, probably someone's done it at home. It's a wide world. http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2011/02/25/134056923/breast-milk-ice-cream-a-hit-at-london-store

this just convinced me to never buy store bought yogurt again. jesus h. i'm buying a yogurt maker. this looks so disgusting, and the fat man selling it is incredibly unhealthy, so his injunction to eat a lot of yogurt is not convincing. ew.

Hey there! Body shaming is not accepted on our channel. Please help us keep our corner of the internet a friendly place for everyone. We certainly agree that many yogurts on the market aren't the healthful products they're pretending to be. Everyone should read food labels! Some single-serving cups sold by national brands contain close to your entire daily recommended limit of sugar -- <25 grams/day for women, <36 grams/day for men. Personally, we aim for Greek-style yogurts -- which are higher in protein than European-style -- with low-to-no added sugar. Which, by the way, the brand we featured here makes. And their facility was incredibly clean and well-kept. However, we always encourage people to at least try making foods at home, and yogurt is a really easy one -- even without a store-bought maker. Any large pot with a lid will work.

dessert flavored yogurts are full of sugar and all kinds of nasty fake ingredients. this is so gross. if you need probiotics, you would not get enough from eating sugary dessert yogurts. the ones in the yogurt shops are likely not containing any probiotics at all, stripped of fat, full of sugar, and devoid of nutrition. they feed the candida you are trying to conquer.

Hi sorry that I already sent this idea to STDWYTK on Facebook , but I ran across a history of sorts of Crisco. Real or fake, was Crisco invented at first for a lubricant for diesel engines in Nazi submarines, and later sold to Procter and Gamble? From warfare to post war fried chicken?
HowStuffWorks (5 months ago)
That's a great question! We'll absolutely look into it. Most likely on the audio podcast side of our show. I'll try to remember to come back and link it here when it happens, but if you're interested in food topics in general, you can find us wherever you get your podcasts under the name "FoodStuff". /Lauren

Please don't talk while you eat, that's gross. All those sounds... ugh!!!
HowStuffWorks (5 months ago)
So true! Seriously, thank yo so much for your understanding despite your peeve. We've all got 'em, and we've all gotta work around them sometimes. We'll try to be more considerate in the future!
Advice_Daybreak (5 months ago)
It's a pet peeve of mine. I simply cannot stand it. I'm sure there were a lot of other people who found it funny. You can't please everyone, unfortunately. If anyone could please everyone, it would just mean we've all become robots.
HowStuffWorks (5 months ago)
We did try to minimize the mouth noises! But we also thought it was sorta funny. ^___^;;

Very cool, and funny. Now get the boys from Stuff They Don't Want You To Know off of Facebook exclusively and back on You Tube! It's where all my fave subscriptions are. And where's Holly? Hopefully getting the scoop at Comic Con, and posting on You Tube soon.

STDWYTK posted a new video over on their YT channel last week! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4BSOxUjUsM Holly's been busy podcasting, and I don't thiiiink she made it out to SDCC, but hopefully she'll have a chance to do more video sometime soon. Thanks so much for watching -- stay tuned!

the gauge that appear in 03:36 how it works?
HowStuffWorks (5 months ago)
It's a temperature readout -- it's wired into the tank. The FDA has some types of dairy producers keep really tight records of temperature for public safety.

You guys had my interest with this episode......right up until the point you guys felt the need to drag identity politics into the subject. I'm sorry guys but it felt completely forced, the very fact that you had to use such a ham fist-ed non sequitur to even wedge it into the subject should have been your 1st clue that it was a bad idea.
Dan Calvano (5 months ago)
Thanks dude :-P

LOL.. alright, fair enough,, "Trigger me Timbers" ,, Goddamn that was funny, I know it was at my expense, but dammit I know when a joke is a joke & when I'm the butt of a good one :)
Dan Calvano (5 months ago)
I hate SJWs more than anything, but this wasn't to "trigger-me-timbers"ee. I think they made a really good point with how yogurt companies make a killing exploiting woman's insecurities...But on the other hand, 90% of modern business is exploiting people's fears and insecurities I reckon

I eat ass, your silly facts don't scare me. Now if you excuse me, I got yogurt to eat.

Also, dairy is just flat out unhealthy. Again, truly surprised with the lack of scientific inquiry here.
HowStuffWorks (5 months ago)
This article was part of our research for the episode, and it gives a good overview of the nutritional qualities of yogurt. https://academic.oup.com/nutritionreviews/article/73/suppl_1/4/1819293/History-of-yogurt-and-current-patterns-of

Surprised they aren't promoting veganism yet. For a channel that has talked about climate change, promoting unsustainable (not to mention unethical) dairy production is just sad.
Ag Jr (5 months ago)
They can make videos about whatever they want to. If they don't want to promote veganism, oh well.

You guys forgot to show the farms where the milk comes from, and all the suffering that happens with the cows. Especially the force impregnating and removal of the male calf that goes into the veal industry.
onlyonewhyphy (5 months ago)
HowStuffWorks (5 months ago)
If you're curious about the cows that make this milk in particular, I'm sure Atlanta Fresh would be happy to talk to you about the farms that they source from. Here's a couple that they use (or have used recently): https://www.hartagriculture.com/; https://www.facebook.com/JohnstonFamilyFarmMilk/
