Great white sharks are responsible for more attacks on humans than any other shark species. What are your thoughts on these findings?

Humans are known as idiots throughout the shark community.
Mrfairchap (1 month ago)
Oh, it’s all very simple really... sharks are just exacting their revenge for the hundreds of thousands of their kind killed by the human race for decades, for such nebulous reasons as shark’s fin soup, “ medicinal” usage and just plain “sport”. Can we afford to lose a few humans? You bet we can!

I am surprised they didn't blame global warming.

National Geographic was once a symbol for something else, something better. Documentaries that were made to teach, inform, respect nature and make us wonder. Now it has become something poorer, rather uninformative, made just for the sake of consumption and entertainment, even at risk of the loss of its identity: spreading information and teaching. To be honest, I am really glad to see that at least BBC has tried to continue that path, sadly abandoned by NG.

Did you check to see if there was a whale migratory path there that is late or not happening decline of species

Most attack on human what happend to bull shark being the most dangerous.
RelativeBadger (1 month ago)
These programmes are very poor. There is far too much repetition of videos to fill time slots (One video clip I watched was repeated 11 times!), and there is far too much talking. I have watched many shark documentaries, and these by 'Nat Geo' are at the bottom of the list for editing and production - never again!

Food sources are dwindling probably leading to even more opportunistic behavior. A hungry apex predator isnt gonna miss out on a quick meal no matter what its shaped like.

I don’t buy into this over dramatisation. But if a rando in a scuba mask, wearing all black turned up in my backyard, I might give them a little warning nibble.

*Answer for those didn't get it:* *Because the seal population has increased to its old population as they were 100 years ago and humans are confused for prey, they usually let go as soon as they bite a human because they confuse us for seals, when biting they roll their eyes back so they can't see really what they're biting at* *Humans are simply in the middle of it, including schools of fish*

Only 350 remain from Alaska to Mexico and out to Hawaii. Say goodbye to your greatest fear marketing strategy and shark week too NG; you're going to have to scare people about another endangered species soon. Thanks for fueling the hatred towards our collapsing oceans and consequently all ecosystems.

National Geographic Shark Fest is the BIGGEST PACK of LIES, MADE-UP B.S, and OVER DRAMATIZED MISINFORMATION on TV! 90% of what they say is just FLAT OUT LIES!! Not only that they have SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES (KILLED) flashing on the screen to embed fear into the unknowing and naive people. They spend 5-10 minutes over dramatizing their make believe theories making you think and believe what they are saying is the truth or reason, only to say NO and then move onto another set of lies and misinformation. Growing up National Geographic magazine was just about the only source of information on most subjects outside of people's everyday life and world, now it makes you wonder if everything they said and showed in that magazine was a PACK of LIES and B.S just like their TV Network. The Discovery channel Shark Week is NO DIFFERENT, the worst of them all is the ANIMAL PLANET! If the ANIMAL PLANET said the Sun will rise tomorrow, I would have to get up and go see for myself because they have LIED so much.

I don’t think it’s great whites that are guilty in the New York attacks. I think we’re dealing with smaller investigative sharks, all sorts...

What is wrong with the National Geographic Channel? Why are you supporting the notion that sharks are like the movie "Jaws"! Change the title! More people equals more encounters. They were here first!

in order to understand a shark you need to think like a shark
Anna Jackson (2 months ago)
This is very sensationalist - the media should stop pedalling this idea about sharks, it’s been very damaging and has lead to the culling of so many sharks. Even Spielberg has come out and said he wishes he’d never made Jaws because of this.

AMAZING! We actually have "shark experts" we refer to as "Doctor." Unless he can sooth my flaming hemorrhoids, I won't refer to him as "Doctor." These "experts" spend many years in higher learning institutions trying to learn/determine rudimentary information. I can give you 6+ years of shark (and other predator information) in just a few sentences. Here goes: If you don't want to get attacked by a shark, don't swim where there are sharks. Not sure if the your chosen body of water is devoid of sharks? Don't go in the water! I'll give you further advice: If you don't want to get attacked by a bear, don't go to areas where there are bears! Have you ever seen those NIMRODS who leave the relative safety of their vehicles just to get a "closer" video/photograph of a Wild Alaskan Grizzly? You can use this advice in other areas of life in order to reduce/eliminate chances of being a victim. "Hello. My name is DOCTOR Gil Gommesh. I'm a shark expert." "Hi DOC, can you take a look at my hemorrhoids? They're awefully painful."

Sharks attacking us for painting them as monsters instead of normal animals.
Saint Michael (2 months ago)
IDK, more people in the water? They’re apex predators so anything in the water that they can catch is on the menu. I’m not an expert, but humans are a lot easier to catch than a seal.

This kind of stuff reveals a confusion of Nat Geo as a brand: sharks supposed manhunting behaviour has regularly been derided as nonsense in their more scientific videos; a myth created by man's fiction and fears. Yet Nat Geo cannot resist in sponsoring terror and fear-spreading via Sharkfest. This is highly entertaining rather than educational. The Jaws legend lives on and is supported by Nat Geo. I suppose there is room for it all, for wary viewers who can see that Nat Geo is baiting them with the food of popular choice.
Jaxon Reppond (2 months ago)
There was literally no unknown info in the video

More people in the world + more sharks in the ocean = more attacks . Also Higher volume of data from previous years = more attacks! Derrrrr.....

Can we please acknowledge that there is more people dying taking a selfy then dying by a shark attack, independently of the type of shark? Moreover, the fact that they got use to be bated to specific locations because of "touristic" activities offering to swim with them make them much more aggressive and incline to get closer to the coats.
