Awesome I love in the woods in Vermont. Not in a hobbit house, But in a tiny home made cabin. It’s made almost entirely of recovered supplies. Freedom sometimes means walking away from what is considered normal.

What will the world be like when organic food grows locally in abundance everywhere? Locally grown organic food designed as eco-systems is the solution to most challenges we stand against. This is one of the key elements for a sustainable world for the well being of all, all of nature, including all humans as well as the highest evolution of our societies. Permaculture, eco system design and desert greening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sohI6vnWZmk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FK0XFvxGxU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvc1Wm9KKro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8z5xZLY1sA Waterbox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRF2bUBPA90 Check out this vertical farming solution for both indoors and outdoors: http://www.butong.se/butong.php?page...n=contribution Check out biotecture, aquaponics and earthship design Val & eli's garden https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iSaRzjxL3E Imagine natural organic food growing everywhere designed as ecosystems all over the planet, that requires less and less maintenance each season and at the same time producing more and more food. Food parks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP6rYLblSxc , food forests, greening desets transformed into healthy moist preserving green lands, food grown vertically alongside buildings, food gown around, and in between buildings like in the example of Val & Eli's garden, organic food grown on the rooftops, and so forth... Another key for a flourishing world for the highest potential and well being of all individuals is self-enquiry, incredibly simple tools to rediscover our true core selves and natural states of being Make sure to check out Mooji’s channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpw...M6Mwsbksv0feEg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Sxa6bCtlto https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysb5BHLa-6E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4zArI0uqWY

Not really futuristic, though is it?!?

+AmazinqCutie ~ In good time, that is when industrial man's destruction of the planet has reached a breaking point, the 'pasture' WILL be the future. In other words, those who know how to do with simple (ancient?) means will be the ones who can survive, while those who can't live without their iPhone-6 won't know how to live w/o toilet paper.

I remember seeing this a while ago and thought it looked like an absolute dream home.. in the last couple of years I've been non stop interested in off grid living and being self sufficient. People like simon dale and mark boyle are inspirational to me! I still consider myself a complete amature and and a bit of a fantasiser, but try to learn something everyday to reach that goal one day.. I would be really interested to know about a more natural/sustainable way of preparing and preserving wood from trees for construction,  some expert (or any) knowledge would be appreciated :)

i want to build my own house, but i want to try something a little different from just plomping down my own house and saying "Look what ive built" only to have it them run off the mains and basically have to pay for it to be repaired all the time. instead i was thinking more of, "Look what i've built, live in and it powers all the houses within a 15 mile radius", that way i'd get paid for living in my own house. ive looked into aerodynamics and how wind turbines, solar panels and water generators work and basically want to build something almost impossible to build.
shaggy (4 years ago)
@Eco Village Costa Rica Not going costa rica when i live in the UK, besides which theres plenty of land for sale near my house than only certain people are permitted to buy. Because ive volunteered for 8 years in the town i have permission to buy. May sae up, buy a farm which is in bad shape, knock down the farm house then build on it using recycled materials. Then plant a few hundred trees and herbs, build a forge where i can recycle metals then just live there in peace.

Of all the small houses I've seen, this is my favourite. I love that instead of trying to impose straight lines onto the natural materials they're going with the natural flow which I believe would make it structurally stronger because the helix shape that branches tend to form can be used to their natural strength in the width and flexibility in the length.

Future ?...I think you mean living in the Past.
QueenDark KingHeart (4 years ago)
@Robert Findley With power comes responsibility. If you're secluded and self-sufficient off in the woods somewhere, you really have very little influence on other people. Living as an urban yuppie plunks you down in the middle of complex social systems and forces you to pick sides with every choice you make, from what deodorant you buy to where you choose to live to how you choose to treat others on the public transport.
RandomActUpMedia (4 years ago)
Oh you weirdos..just fkng relax......I happen to have moved to the Philippines 12 years ago....I now built a house in the province a good ways from the CITY.....so all of you talking crap to me as if you know me, analyzed me, liberal wacko left profiled me...just READ my post again AFTER you watch my house video...ok Sunshine.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-L2pOuU6W0
Robert Findley (4 years ago)
@QueenDark KingHeart Actually much more difficult to be a decent and educated person WHILE being a yuppie living in an expensive flat in NYC...
QueenDark KingHeart (5 years ago)
@Sendel85 That guy is kind of an idiot, but to be fair education is really important. So if someone wants to live like a hobbit in the ground, they better live like a hobbit with a big library and a good education system. I can understand why someone would criticize a lifestyle that harks back to the days of children on the western frontier doing nothing but farming and shooting guns all day. But it's also possible to be a decent and educated person without being some yuppie living in an expensive flat in NYC.

There future. No, that thing would not even last as long as a conventional home.
signalfire6 (4 years ago)
'Conventional homes' are shit; they're thin plywood and matchstick boxes that are hardly insulative, need new and very expensive roofs every 20 years, hardly last 100 years, require a fortune to heat and cool (no energy should be used that way at all, just siting and passive) and require a lifetime to pay for.  They are banker slave traps.  Meanwhile, there are cob, stone and other kinds of houses worldwide that are 100s of years old.  At least when this house is done, it's recyclable, not pink fiberglass and toxic waste plastic.  There is NO reason a house can't be totally off grid now, but the code Nazis don't want to let you.  The US is well behind the curve here letting people use technology and their own resourcefulness to house themselves.

The hippies were right!   Why spend 30 years in a cubicle and commuting in dangerous traffic to pay for a house you're never in, because you have to be at work to pay for the house...?
Mark Briley (5 years ago)
I couldn't imagine building something like this on MY OWN property in the US - you'd spend thousands in engineering fees just to make it legal.  Only way to do it on the cheap is to keep  it out of sight of neighbors and other prying eyes...
