East Midlands - Evening Cargo Spotting | Arrivals - UPS, DHL, Maersk, Icelandair, TNT, Swiftair

374 ratings | 61935 views
One of the best evenings plane spotting ever. There was a surreal feel in the air and it was an evening I won't forget. I've uploaded a couple of videos from this trip last year but I purposely left you waiting for the best videos, and now they're here. East Midlands Airport (EMA/EGNX) is a big cargo airport in the UK, with numerous cargo flights arriving every evening, and then departing in the morning. So when my Dad and I went up to East Mids on the 20th/21st July 2013, we got the evening arrivals, spotting from about 16:00 until 21:30, then got the early morning departures from about 05:00 to 06:30. MORNING DEPARTURES: http://youtu.be/Enbjsf4WSpg All the cargo flights arrive within a couple of hours, making filming there really exciting! During the evening hours East Midlands gets hectic, with tens of flights arriving and many wanting to depart too. We absolutely loved it, and seeing as this was filmed back in Summer 2013, we are looking to go back soon! This video begins as I typically like to start them, with a nice intro including a view of the spotting location in which all the clips were filmed. Then straight into the cargo landings! - : UPS 767-300 Jet2 737-300 Swiftair EMB120 Star Air Maersk 767-200 Icelandair Cargo 757-200 Star Air Maersk 767-200 Atlantic Airlines BAE ATP DHL A300-600 TNT 737-400 DHL 757-200 DHL A300-600 (Retro Livery); the last arrival we caught before heading back because the lighting was deteriorating, 21:30pm. There wasn't much special that we hadn't already filmed after this arrival anyway:) The brilliant variety of airlines and aircraft we saw on this trip, plus the all around epic spotting location meant East Midlands is a must re-visit in our eyes. Because of the locality by change of several online dealers, the east midland airport holds the global record for the most sex toys moved through one airport. More vibrators travel through here than at any other airport.

the prebious record was burlington ohio.+Mraviationguy

Looks like almost all the precious cargo are entrusted to Boeings
Mraviationguy (1 year ago)
I've never thought about that but you have a good point, it does seem like that! Thanks for watching 😃

That jet2 looked like a normal airliner at first if it is a cargo plane then why does it need windows
catcrusher558 c.a.t.s expert (6 months ago)
They don't do cargo
Keith Doherty (8 months ago)
It’s a convertible model day time carries passengers
Synchronised Round earth (1 year ago)
Mraviationguy I was thinking that aswell
Mraviationguy (1 year ago)
I think it has just been converted from a passenger version to a cargo version:) Thanks for watching!

Hi, great video, I send parcels very frequent via UPS, from Manchester to Bucharest next day delivery, I've used the tracking site, and parcels go from Manchester-East Midlands Cologne-and arrives Bucharest in leas than 20hours or even less, but does anyone know does UPS Manchester parcels go on flights to East Midlands, because it generally takes around 40 minutes once it leaves UPS depot in Manchester to reach East Midlands,
Mraviationguy (3 years ago)
+james malloy Hi, thanks very much! Ah I didn't know that!
George Walker (3 years ago)
Great video.... love EMA... Why, if the wind was 010/ 10 were they using runway 27??
George Walker (3 years ago)
+Mraviationguy Thanks for your quick reply!! Trust the variable British winds to be unreliable!! :)
Mraviationguy (3 years ago)
+George Walker Thanks George. Hmm, not sure to be honest. If I was to guess it would be that the winds were varying and unreliable, it is possible that they were varying between 350 and 010 all evening so they might have just decided to keep in 27. But not exactly sure:) Thanks for watching.
Lutky (3 years ago)
omfg, such a variety of operators, I don't understand how they got so much cargo there, I mean, it's amazing. So much cargo, so many planes full of cargo, wow.
Mraviationguy (3 years ago)
+calinlam Yeah a great variety at East Midlands! Me neither truthfully:L Thanks for watching.

great video, are shooting from the cafe on the a453 ? Are you still allowed on the old road directly under  the approach path ? cheers
Mraviationguy (3 years ago)
No, well we cycled, not sure exactly where you would park a car. I am not local to EMA so I am not sure what night is best at this time of ear. All I know is that weekdays are best. Ah nice!
Road Bell ends (3 years ago)
+Mraviationguy any access problems, it looks a little private, i'll try and get a night this week any night in particular thats best ?. i only live up near jct 27, so not far. i use to work for lufthansa 5 years ago at this airport lol

Hi I thought the old aviation park was closed and was out of bounds to people,
Mraviationguy (4 years ago)
Okay I am not local to EMA, if you say it was previously a viewing park then that's fine, but it isn't any more.
engine0091 (4 years ago)
yes it is
Mraviationguy (4 years ago)
This spot isn't an old viewing park, it is just a mound. Whether it used to be a viewing park I don't know. Thanks for watching.

Did not realise that jet2 did cargo!
High Flyer (6 months ago)
catcrusher558 c.a.t.s expert yes they do the don’t won’t to bin their old aircraft so they take the seats out then make it a cargo
catcrusher558 c.a.t.s expert (6 months ago)
They dont
High Flyer (8 months ago)
Well you do now!
High Flyer (8 months ago)
They haven’t got that much cargo aircraft tho I was at Belfast airport and I saw a Jet2 cargo for the first time I swas shocked
Keith Doherty (8 months ago)
Channel express the owners of The Jet2 brand has been operating cargo flights for more than twenty years far longer than they have operated summer sun flights for self loading organic freight. They have had a contract with Royal Mail for flights radiating around East Midlands , Edinburgh and Belfast however that have now lost this and are ending regular cargo flights
Flightsim10HD (4 years ago)
Bloody fantastic video Archie! Yep sure is great in 1080p ;) Get a lot of nice movements there, must go down sometime! Keep an eye out for the new Star Air livery. Also that DHL A300 at the end :O Liked !:D

Daniel Sander (4 years ago)
Nice one Archie one of your best yet 😃 Cargo stuff in my opinion are always the best stuff to video. For example Prestwick has had some brilliant cargo movements this year such as the Gumball 3000 & the Av Cargo MD11. It's always nice to see old classics like the B762. East Midlands is a defo to be done next year hopefully 😃. Looking forward to part 2.
