Conflict arises when wildlife and humans live in close quarters. What are your thoughts on this help hotline?

Do you have an Indian web portal which can offer to take in donations and disburse it to specific causes similar to WWF India? I think a lot of corporations will be interested in helping out as they are mandated by law to donate 2% of profits for a social cause in the country.

They should create kits for putting up fences that are alarmed. & start giving people safe tranquilizer weapons so that farmers can safely get predatory animals and even large elephants off of their property without hurting them.

Those even number statistics at the end were very strange.

Well, when you try to live in a land that doesn't belong to you, this is what happens. The land belongs to the animals

Please save these animals. Farmers could start using modern technology like vertical cultivation in a controlled environment. Hopefully, banks or the government can provide them the capital needed. We humans are the enchroachers. These animals have been here for thousands of years.

Very inspiring. This is what can be done when the government works to serve the people instead of stealing their money, ignoring their problems, or treating them with disrespect. A simple solution implemented by people who understand the communities needs.

It's the beaurecratic inefficiency holding back the whole programme, afterall, each year the Govt doesn't spend the allotted budget on these issues. Great initiative, though.

+Ashutosh Kumar your on a rampage in the comment section today bro
Ashutosh Kumar (1 month ago)
Lol, can't you read? There is money for compensation, it's the mechanism at fault. And, don't lecture Indians about having dignity for wildlife. After having so many people, it is remarkable that wildlife still exists in the country, and it is all because of the tolerant nature of people realising that animals are as much part of the environment as they are.

Integrate hot chili 🌶 farming around the crops like fences. Even breaking them up and scatter the scent and chemical in chili peppers. Elephants hate chili’s
Wil Morales (1 month ago)
Has humans destoyed your habitat?
Christian Williams (1 month ago)
I believe that these wild animals are loosing too much of there habitats and thus have trouble finding food. Usually animal agriculture is to blame for the majority of habitat loss, species extinction and ocean dead zones. We could feed the wold twice over if we only let go of eating animals and animal products, and it would take 1/16 of the land to grow out food.
Zoltrix (1 month ago)
Would it not be more beneficial, and possibly more profitable in the end to build reinforced high fences around crops? Or would they need to be like military grade to last? Sad seeing these animals die when humans are smart enough to figure this out. They are endangered. It may bother me more because we don't have them in Canada. I feel if we solved more issues like this, we may just solve some other issues along the way.
Ashutosh Kumar (1 month ago)
Fencing stops elephant movements. That is not good. Because that would fracture ecological landscapes. These farmers lands are sometimes corridors through which elephants pass to reach a water hole or different part of the jungles. Fencing hinders that. Also, while your concerns are right, unless you are in amidst this, you won't know the gravity of the situation.

Very difficult for these poor people and the elephants, leopards, tigers and other animals. In the Gir Forest area the villagers treasure the few lions that live in the area, and do much to protect them. In other areas, the elephants stand by the road and the people give them fruit, hay, greens, like a toll road! Hard to believe, but true!
Rishi Naik (21 days ago)
yes dear this is what is truth what we have seen....hey are you on instagram Katherine and where u from ??? m from Goa
Ashutosh Kumar (1 month ago)
Gir is not a forest per se, and there are no elephants in Gir. So, the lions take the cattle of the maldhari but other than that they are very much part of the setup. Plus, unlike tigers and leopards, the Gir luons don't attack humans.

Human population also needs to be controlled. Humans keep spreading like an infestation in the land, and then they moan about their property being destroyed. Stop having more than 2 kids FFS!

Ashutosh Kumar (1 month ago)
I am an Indian, and I agree about the "not having more than 2 kids part". However, the elephant-human conflict is not because of human population expanding numbers. Even in the '60s when population was much lower, such incidents happened. The leopard one is because of an easy prey, whereby they get attached to killing livestock.
Suspicious sauce guy (1 month ago)
i live in sweden theres no elephants here xd
Suspicious sauce guy (1 month ago)
Ashutosh Kumar they are in zoos but i dont like zoos because they enslave animals and they would never come here by themselves because of our weather and stuff they are captured by people and brought to a place that they suffer in because of the weather but some days here in sweden are really warm but some animals dont want to live here or cant because of the weather and stuff but its better for them to be in the wild anywhere because in zoos they are basically slaves or its better for some animals to not be wild like dogs but idk but i think its better for like dogs to not be in the wild if you treat them good
Ashutosh Kumar (1 month ago)
Well, of course not in the wild. They must be in zoos or is it too cold for them?!

NorthernBorderBoys (1 month ago)
More wildlife fencing less compensation
Ashutosh Kumar (1 month ago)
You mentioned Africa but I am sure you mean savannah grasslands not jungles. I am sure around Zaire and it's jungles, there are no fencings.
NorthernBorderBoys (1 month ago)
Create fenced corridors, supply water, just saying people have been doing it in africa for over 150years, poaching is a greater issue there compared to crop damage, but i dunno we all want a happy ending for the farmers and wildlife. Australians built a dingo proof fence 5500km long, from one side of australia to the other !
Ashutosh Kumar (1 month ago)
Fencing is not all the correct way to go. Elephants are the gardeners of the forests, and it's their movement through the corridors which keeps the forests healthy. Plus, fencing will stop them from reaching their destined waterholes which are sometime 400 kms away.

Himanshu Kumar On behalf of my fellow Americans I’d Ike to let you know that the majority of the United States guns are owned by the military and only 2% of the civilian population
Himanshu Kumar (1 month ago)
We are not addicted to guns like you guys are
Alex Raulins (1 month ago)
DeepBlue civilians owning guns is illegal in India and most other countries
How Bout Tracy Weber Yee Haw (1 month ago)
That is why elephants need to be in zoo's so the people will be safe and can eat food also the elephants will be safe from poaching and can get the proper care they need 😳
Ashutosh Kumar (1 month ago)
There is a marked difference between wild elephants and domesticated elephants. The wild ones are the reason forests remain healthy as they have an extremely important role in ecology. If there are no wild elephants in India, Indians should really hang their heads in shame for not respecting their own culture.

5:53 such a sight brings me ire, not only do i feel great sympathy for the beautiful creature as i can clearly see it's breathing tiredly which i can only hope is a tranquilized state, but it also reminds me of many years uselessly invested/wasted in school. Sidenote: Yeah, i don't believe those 'total numbers' as they are too round. Stop lying if ya gonna end it with a factual note.

+Lynn Yuzuriha Aye, i'm just frustrated with the situation.
Lynn Yuzuriha (1 month ago)
During that timestamp the voice over said "poisoning the attackers" which sadly means that it wasn't just tranquilized :( but we can't really talk on behalf of them, because for those people those animals are taking away their means of surviving.
Whomping Walrus (1 month ago)
You don't need all the sigfigs to still have figs that are sig.
trevor bowen (1 month ago)
überguy I think the numbers were more like rounded estimates because they might have a major impact like that but they also might not be able to track all the people, towns and amount of compensation has been given to a tee. Also they didn’t look to technically connected as America or great Britain so there could also be flaws in the data management system so they had to use a rounded estimate.
