I'd put a Whirlpool "super-surgilator_ agitator in replacement of the agitator that is in that washer. I think the "surgilator" would provide a faster turn-over. Although the laundry there is definitely getting a good wash-action even with that agitator.

Sounds just like my 1979 Kenmore, I miss that washer

WOW great video! Nothing like the great sounds and performance of a classic belt drive Whirlpool/Kenmore. I have a special connection to this style of machine, it's rather sad. I'll share it on as the whole world does not need to know.

I see your enjoying your re-built Kenmore and letting the Speed Queen rest. It’s doing a great job as it was originally built to do.

Question....where does the washer drain to?
John McDevitt (5 months ago)
I noticed that after the drain cycle when the air gets sucked through the pump, the "hum" it makes sounds a little bit flatter than a vast majority of BD's. That's why I asked about it.
Harley Badger - from Spats & Harley (5 months ago)
Doesn't make any difference. We already tested the pressure and drain rate with the short hose, it's no different from the long hose.
John McDevitt (5 months ago)
Doesn't that put a lot of stress on the drain hose, because you really have to stretch it a long way in order for it to reach the laundry tub? My suggestion would be moving the washer right next to the drain tub. This may also help it to drain faster.

Over to the laundry tub on the far right past the plants

Being from 1978. This washer is no stranger to blue jeans. I'm pretty sure it washed a few bell bottom jeans in it's early life.

Good point! Some SWEEEET jeans right there.

Can you do a permanent press on this machine one day?
Jacob Flanigan (4 months ago)

Sure. I'll try to do it today and post it tomorrow.

The styling of these machines has held up very well in 2018. If these were on today's showroom floors I would head right for them. Also like this agitator better than the DAA in these large capacity washers.
NVHSChadSheppard1 (4 months ago)
pat cola my old Kenmore had a DAA it did the job especially for full loads. Check out my channel
