How do you save money while in the military? I explain some easy basic ways to save money while you serve. APP I use for stocks: https://share.robinhood.com/kyleg603 SAVE money with this app Acorns: https://acorns.com/invite/PCL3RQ CHECK OUT MY WEBSITE! http://www.KyleGott.com Looking for ways to save money while you serve in the military? Lets be straight up. They ways people blow the most money come down to a few simple things. DRINKING TOO MUCH AND TOO OFTEN. If you want to save money. STOP DRINKING ALL THE TIME. Next, if you want to save more money. STOP GOING OUT TO EAT ALL THE TIME! Cook your own meals, meal prep. You'll save anywhere from 50-250 more a month just with that. Next, DO NOT BUY A FANCY CAR YOU CAN AFFORD LONG TERM. Just because you can afford the monthly payments of $400-$500 doesn't mean you can afford it long term. Cars lose value much faster than you pay them off when they are expensive. Do yourself a favor. Get a decent car that is under $10,000. Take care of it and drive it for 5-10 years. Pay it off ASAP and bank the rest of the money! If you want to save in the long term(retirement) open a retirement account. I recommend Vanguard “Roth IRA” it ease to use. I started on January 2019 and deposited $2200 and as of now (March 2019) I have gained $107 from my investments. You can choose bones, stocks, ETFs. I think it’s a great way to save money.

How to save money every payday for me in military i set up my saveings account so its got a lock on it meaning i cant withdrawl anything from it so i deposit 75% of my pay from chequeing into saveings and that 25% i got left in chequeing lasts me till next payday then i rinse and repeat and keep doing that proccess till i get out, being a non drinker helps a ton, I spend most of my days off at the gym rather then going out,

Instead of putting $100 in acorns you should use ASPIRATION. It’s a free online bank with no monthly or yearly charges. It gives like 1% interest which is wayyyyy more than banks give. I love love love aspiration. Plus they’re earth friendly and have a kind of eco score where purchases with certain companies that “help” protect the earth. They have checking and savings.

For stocks, buy stocks that pay dividends predictably like utility companies and blue chips and, this is the important part, put those dividends back into your trading account(s) so those dividends are held adding up until the amount per share is worth what is in your dividend account which will buy more shares in the companies you already hold.

TSP is a great thing because when you put in 5% of your paycheck, then the government matches that 5%. Also there are different funds that you can invest in too. Thanks for the link to acorns. I am going to start a savings through acorns too.

One piece of advice I would like to share with new airmen or those who are looking to join is, from day 1 of BMT, handle your finances as if your are getting out. Whether you decide you stay in 4, 6, 10 or 20 years plan, budget , and prioritize your money as if you were getting out at the end of your contract, whether you re-enlist or not. Things in life may change, always prepare yourself for life outside of the military no matter the branch of service. Find someone that will be honest and help you with your finances.

BOOM military videos 😩 either you're going to give me what I deserve and stop playing with my emotions or you're going to tell me the truth, if not then you leave me absolutely positutely no frickin' choice but to cut you out of my life completely! It's your choice darling 😟... Jk I'm never unsubscibing 😊 but I am a bit confuzzled tbh.

Hey Kyle, love your videos man. One correction that I want to make about the acorns account is that acorns does charge you a $1 fee every month for all accounts under $5,000 and .25% of the balance per year on accounts over $5,000. As always, keep up the great work and thank you for your service!

I'm a LCPL and it's way easy to save 1,000 a month. It's basically putting away 1 paycheck per month.

Son Of Eire88 bull. Women are complete money holes. Friends don’t get you far either if you find any decent ones, which is pretty hard to do.
Son Of Eire88 (7 months ago)
Worst advice you could give to a young man is stay single and stay at home.. I agree with the debt aspect though.

So ive been talking to my recruiter lately and he’s trying to get me to sign a “Guaranteed mechanical” contract because they now have a signing bonus for it. He says that if i sign this contract, in the 2nd week of BMT ill get a list of jobs to choose from. Is this true? I dont want to sign this contract and end up not being able to choose my job.
Andy Rouse (1 year ago)
Shaun Moeckel and I understand a lot of people are trying to leave behind shitty situations. I went to basic with a guy who was living in a car for two weeks while waiting for his ship date. I get it, but if you can, take a little extra time, and take advantages you can get while you can get them!
Andy Rouse (1 year ago)
Shaun Moeckel you might get out a couple months sooner, but you will have almost zero say in what you will be doing for the next six years of your life, slow it down, think about this life descision. The air force is full of great opportunities. You could go into air traffic control or avionics and make a ton of money on the outside, or get tossed into HVAC or become a cook for six years. Slow it down and get everything you can out of the air force. But try to have a say in what you'll be doing. You'll be much happier that way.
Aaron’s Adventures and Tinkering (1 year ago)
You have some say, it's like with you're recruiter. You pick 10 or so jobs off their list at BMT and then you get one of those jobs.
Shaun Moeckel (1 year ago)
Aaron yeah, the bonus right now is $3000. I agree that it’s really not worth it. But my whole thing is that i would like to get out of here and into the Air Force as soon as possible, and I know that if i sign the Guaranteed Mechanical contract, ill get out sooner. My only concern is that i dont want to be assigned a job. I want to at least have some say in my job selection. I probably wasn’t the best at explaining the situation.
Andy Rouse (1 year ago)
Shaun Moeckel bonuses are for when you sign for six years and have an open contract. I don't think they are worth it, talk to your recruiter, put your list togeather, and take something on your list. Yes there is not a "guarantee" that you'll get it, even if you sign for it. But 9 times out of 10, you will. I picked a job on my list, and I did end up getting it. If you ask me, don't go open for six years. It's going to be a big part of your life, TRY to get something you kinda want...

Add in the Roth IRA option too in addition to the TSP. BRS is definitely the way to go if you can combine an IRA with it.

Spartan.G BMT is super easy, 324th TRS Knights are the best lol
Spartan.G (1 year ago)
It depends on how valuable you are to the Air Force. I was told to pick 10 jobs. I said nah, i got a degree and have 85+ on all sections of ASVAB. My recruiter said ight let me talk to my boss. I gave them 3 jobs and they made it happen. It also helps to have cool recruiter but that's rare. I leave for BMT on 11/20
AForceInMinistry (1 year ago)
I got metal tech as my job I love it. Just be sure to go in with an open mind or else you’ll hate it cuz of your own preferences
Gage Potthoff (1 year ago)
if you sign for a aptitude open be prepared to not get the job you want it's what the air force wants. Sign paperwork for the job you want, wait it out and you'll be happy. Learn from my mistake
AForceInMinistry (1 year ago)
Yes when you come back from meps the first time you’ll go to your recruiter and they’ll give you the list of jobs you qualify for and you choose 10 that you really want but they’re all jobs you can get
