Warren Buffett: Mistakes Made At GE | CNBC
Another interview that devolves into the Joe Kernan show.
MrGtoriginal (3 days ago)
I wish that loud-mouthed clown from CNBC would STFU and let Buffet finish his answers FFS.

John interrupted Warren Buffet several times. That is poor interviewing technique. Timing is everything. He should learn to let Warren speak.

In Chinese parlance, the male commenter's behavior towards Warren Buffett is analogised as "Eunuch acting like the emperor". And that was how the Qin Dynasty first lost China to Western powers, then to Chinese revolutionaries under Sun Yet Sun and subsequently to the Japanese.
If history repeats itself, the present scenario is just the beginning of the end of GE and the greatest casualties will be the minnows i.e. the small investors because institutional investors and banks will always be bailed out by the financial system. It's painful reality. Best regards.

It is well known that when anyone challenges Buffett or says anything remotely negative about him people instantly go on the offensive as if he is some kind of god. I think the commentator was trying to ask him legitimate questions. Also what does being friends with someone have to do with whether the company was being managed appropriately?!
The company has gotten so big over the years that it has become significantly more difficult to manage or even follow. Looking at the most recent 10Q it is clear that there are many things being left out. They are not and very likely have not been for a long while now disclosing substantial losses with significant portions of their business units. Prior management evidently believed he could aquire more and more companies in an effort to reduce debt and increase profitability. Obviously the reverse had occurred debt has went sky high whilst profitability has gone down.

Alan (28 days ago)
Buffett looks annoyed by Joe's questions because Joe is trying to get Buffett to place blame on the GE management. You can tell by the look on Buffett's face after each of Joe's questions.

With all due respect you sir, GE has 10 TIMES STRONGER Financials than your KO-Coca Cola. Last 4 years, your KO revenue PLUMMETED 25% to tinny $35 Billion, WIPPEDOUT 85% of Profit, only DEBT $46 BILLION went up and it's much higher than revenue. Only reason KO Coca Cola being PUMPED up is because Wallstreet wants to protect 1%, Mr. Buffet. So, sir, Please count your blessings in the form of Banks MANIPULATING stocks in your favor, and HURTING MANIPULATION acts on us retail little investors. GE is most held by retail mom & pops, therefore it's always a target by Wallstreet BASHING and stealing their valuable assets..
Goldn Messi (2 months ago)
Truth hurts. Just compare MUCH SUPERIOR FINANCIALS of GE..vs..KO PLUMMETING financials, yet KO stock is PUMPED UP DOUBLE to GE...

For all the negative comments about Joe’s interviewing skills, he was fine! He was trying to get WB to admit on air, in come context or another, that he regrets investing in air. That’ll be a big deal to get a legendary investor like WB to admit he regret investing in a company. But Joe didn’t get what he wanted, so he kept circling around the drain. He’s not the most skillful at it. I wouldn’t be surprise if he follows Maria Bartranomo’s path down the lines and join Fox News, personality wise he fits there.

There was a rule in Communist China that 5 percent of the population was counterreulutionary and needed attention. GE took over the same rule and decided that 10 percent of the employes needed attantion. So if you wonder why noone in GE got any warning signals, you can figure that out now.

About 2005 I worked at GE as an engineering contractor. At that time, GE was outsourcing its engineering to India. This was a complete disaster and they hired a bunch of old engineers like me to re-work the engineering from India. At the time I asked my manager why bother to go to India? You might as well give it to us old timers and cut out the middleman.
The manager looked at me and said, “God has said that outsourcing is good. No one contradicts God. Besides, you guys are charged to the contract and no one cares as long as you are not charged to overhead.”
So, we kept working. What I found at GE was that there were a ton of these Sigma 7 engineers that looked good, dressed right. Our manager was typical, she had spent several years in compliance and HR. She was sigma 7 certified. But, she had never gotten her feet wet. Frankly, she had little real world experience. And that was the problem with GE. There weren’t people there who had gotten their feet dirty walking an oil field or a factory. The guys who really knew what was going on were either old or retired.

That guy is sssoooo annoying lol

I am not sure whether GE is involved in parts of the insurance industry, but if they are and this is one of the reasons for the decline. One of the things that is always risky is the fact of it's future foresight. Who really knows what will come out in it projections. Because as a lot of people have been watching. When huge payouts are not forecasted. It can throw a lot of the industry into turmoil. Causing these huge declines. This may not be the case here, but if it is then someone needs to take a real close look at the way they take on clients. Investors should also know when you watch lines up and down or completely down. It's identical to watching an individual having a heart attack, and the doctors are trying to stabilize the patient. It has to be done by the experts to be successful.

Joe, when you are in the zone, you can be very pithy, witty, and incisive. Recently, your statements are seemingly rambling and incoherent like a man on a barstool long after closing time. You are at heart an intellectual and scientist yet trying to play the role of a game show host here outside your sphere. If you want to be a game show host, call Pat the wheel show host for advice. Your babbling is unsettling and a trainwreck of an interview style. Bartender please mute CNBC, and send me a tequila sunrise. NOW!!!!!!
