Fam...Let's not forget those lovely Chewy packages. LOLOLOL! Today I had 21 boxes of 50+ pound bags. I had so many the customer was waiting in the driveway with his nephew. They both had a dolly and luckily I didn't forget to load mine. Shit was intense. Plus it was up a steep wheelchair ramp...which was funny looking, but it was crazy.

In my area, ground routes are basically city routes, and HD routes are rural routes, with some exceptions of course. So HD over here you will almost always be working later. My HD route typically got around 75-90 stops, and I worked until 6 or so most days. The ground driver who did the area right near the terminal was done every day no later than 12:30. So it really depends on the area which type of route is more difficult.

Sit down Anyone can do deliveries with out a dead line I think p and d takes a bit of strategy with figuring out your day to go well with pick up scattered around your route Let’s not talk about it be about it

I'm ground as well i go in 8:30-5pm before I was working with a different contractor from 8:30-9pm and I almost got the same amount of $$ but something I hate is when people try to make me take heavy shit inside their house and get mad lol that ain't my job or when people stop me and hand me an Express door tag asking if I have their package , I'm like "read my truck and shirt" (ground) lol
geoffa87 (5 months ago)
I'll pop it in someone's front door or garage if they ask me to, but that's as far as I'll go.
Dear Vrenezi (5 months ago)
Aaron Ramirez happens to me all the time. People tell me to bring heavy shit inside their houses all the time, I just tell them I’m not allowed inside people’s homes. Or I tell them ask someone else to help you. My job is just to deliver. That’s it!

How late is the last pickup for ground? I saw a truck on the road and it was around 830.
The CThompson Show (1 year ago)
I think the last pick up window ends at 8
eric jones (1 year ago)
And I seen someone comment they had no more ground/HD. Which is true for Oklahoma we are all mandated here to start a conversion over to a fed ex Express look. Speaking for uniform truck logos etc. Idk if you all have went through ISP which is in general a switch to make hd and ground more unison with fed ex's actual corporate face. [Integrated Service Provider(s)]
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)
Yessir, they aren't making those changes as we speak
eric jones (1 year ago)
Have you guys not integrated with ground cloud? We use an iPad running an app called "Ground cloud" which is a turn by turn based app. Tells you where to go stop to stop showing manifest and direction like Google maps. Very helpful. Ground drivers in okc make more than home delivery.
Lee Yang (10 months ago)
Some contractors are running it... but most likely, the contractor doesn't want to pay for 15 iPads. My contractor decided to get GPSs. Not good.
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)
No sir, first time hearing about it

I drive for WB Mason, I don't know how you deal with all the packages in the aisle like that. Our trucks are 36ft long so I can't stand having to pile crap in the middle lol
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)
It can be annoying, no doubt
Steven Streling (1 year ago)
I'm ground I'm off by 630ish or 7pm depending on traffic
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)
Sounds like my day

A Garmin with TripPlanner is your best friend because you can load your route from your scanner.
Richard Nixon (1 year ago)
They have cords all the drivers can use. Ctl + L, click options, during day operations, and you’ll see “transfer route to gps” lol
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)
Whatever work best though, use it!
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)
Never heard of that
Kire Create (1 year ago)
The fact HD doesn’t have to carry a max of 150lbs
Dear Vrenezi (5 months ago)
Kire Create you’re on crack. HD does ͏w͏a͏y heavier shit than ground
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)
Ha yeah, that's true as well
Randi Dawn Bogar (1 year ago)
Ive forgotten boxes before ... In multi story buildings it sucks !!! Especially penthouses
Charles Byrd (1 year ago)
Ground has a lot more bigger, heavier, and awkward packages.
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)
That's true
Michael Burian (1 year ago)
Your absolutely right about the 5 things I do mainly businesses... an there switching all the HD to ground in our facility now
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)
Yeah, they're doing that at our terminal as well
Scott D (1 year ago)
I drove a Ground route for the first time a couple Monday’s back and it wasn’t that bad at all. I just had to get used to having no paper manifest (as you call the turn-by-turn). I used the advice of the veterans which was to organize the boxes into sections and take vision labels off boxes and put them up in the cab to remind me of what my next dozen stops or so we’re. It was something like 75 stops that day and I think 150 boxes. Luckily I didn’t have to do the pickups since I was doing that route as a favor for another contractor. He did the pickups for me as a favor for a favor 👍that was the first time I drove a 1200 too.

It's cool for the most part for me until we get out late and you have to be done delivering at a certain time to start pick ups

how do you feel about when you have to deliver a destroyed package that you didn't know about and the customer is just sitting there waiting?
Scott D (1 year ago)
Happens to me I just got right up to the customer and apologize for how the package looks and ask if they want to keep or refuse.
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)
It happened today with that mattress. She was cool about it but it's just an awkward situation to be in
Scott D (1 year ago)
Forgot how to driver release packages 🤣😂
EDC GUY (6 months ago)
Driver release, hit other, type in I forgot
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)

michael preston (1 year ago)
It’s weird we started this pass Saturday but it wasn’t heard since I know the route
CThompsonTv (1 year ago)
