This Soldier’s Wife Got a Repairman To Fix Her Furnace. But the Bill – It Touched Her Heart

4859 ratings | 842287 views
Without a furnace to heat it, the temperature in her home had dropped to 50°F. But with her handyman husband away on deployment, Bridget Stevens wondered how she would put things right. It was January 2016, and Bridget had returned home to the house near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that she shares with her husband, Bobby, and their two young sons. However, she soon discovered that not all was well. “I felt that it was freezing in here,” she said in an interview with ABC News, “So I checked the thermostat and saw that it was only 50°F in the house.” Normally, she would have turned to the practical Bobby for help solving the problem. But he was out of town – deployed on foreign shores with the National Guard. Seems this kind of acts are rare in USA that this is a news. But there are plenty of places on the planet that this is everyday experience. Those who protect motherland are heroes, but those who deployed on foreign shores ...? It is high time for some/most of our US friends to change your attitude about the life and the earth (see the comments .. how excited some USAs abut this small act and the service in Vietnam etc..). PS: there are plenty of blind patriots in the place where I was born too. But I believed USA has a better education.

+Ken MacDonald What is MSM? mass media? I personally have no single reason to hate any foreign nations or anyone. Just trying to understand what's going on in the world. yeah Media and Politics
Ken MacDonald (1 month ago)
They aren't rare. The MSM doesn't report them because it's good for ratings to keep us divided through hate and cynicism. Like the hate and cynicism you put on display in your comment.

This makes me so mad, her husband is earning a living and being well paid I imagine, this poor guy who is also earning a living and not so well paid considering he's self employed, gave up his time for nothing because of a bleating wife tugging on his patriotic heart strings, that guy has to put food on the table too yanno!!
demarlo styles (3 months ago)
this is how you say thank you for your service their should be no financial worries for servicemens family when he or she is deployed the tremendous stress these mothers have to deal with what with raising the children alone and also worrying about their husbands safety i

Or maybe our government should be taking care of its citizens, so people don’t have to rely on charity to hear their homes, or feed their families. Kind of how FDR started the federal works program, food stamps, raising taxes on the wealthy robber barons and their corporations, Medicare, heating subsidies, to fix THE GREAT DEPRESSION

Those who thumbed down this video , are clearly ignorant and spiteful trash , who do not know the meaning of kindliness and care for fellow human beings. They are a waste of space .

So would this guy do this for a retired vet with a limited income? Or even a lesser payed enlisted spouse? I was single in the military my whole 20 years and the married personnel, and their spouses were the most spoiled people on the planet. So not impressed.

The irony is that as her husband is an officer and whilst deployed would probably receive - Imminent Danger pay, Family Separation Allowance and if in a combat zone his pay would be tax free, the family could probably more than afford the repair. Nice gesture on the repairman though.

Occasionally I go to the Malcolm Randal VA Hospital in Gainesville Florida for my healthcare checkups. They saved me from cancer two years ago and I am thanking them with all my heart. I get such a positive feeling going there. The healthcare and administrative staff are the nicest and finest people in the world and all the vets feel the same way as I do.

Dude, the guy is an officer in the army, and while being deployed, he gets a whole bunch of extra pay so the whole "being concerned" about the bill is BS... But the whole taking care of an army family is alright, I guess....
Magestic (4 months ago)
Dude, he's in the National Guard being deployed, that doesn't pay anywhere near the same as full time active duty.
