I heard that when you release the parking break the time clock starts and when you set it again the time clock stops. Is that true?

some pilots ,who have ham radio licence, allso have contacts with other amateur radio operators ,during the longer flights :)

I sometimes think about what's going through a pilot's thoughts when taking off at night and ascending from the lights of the earth into this total black oblivion of sky with nothing else to look at but those dials and gauges.

I was lucky (through a personal relationship with a Qantas pilot) to fly in the cockpit of a 747 from Sydney to Hong Kong in August 2001 (timing was lucky). It was great fun. Captain showed me his flight simulator on his new Palm Pilot (long time ago). The approach and landing in great weather in Hong Kong was sensational. Very pretty and the elevated position during touch down etc. Will never forget this experience.

I actually thought the stuff you weren't supposed to talk about was hijackings and terrorism. Imagine accidentally leaving the cabin mic on and having a nice discussion on what to do if the plane gets hijacked..

@4:38 -- as a passenger, I'd prefer that the manual bookkeeping be done in parallel to the automated system.

Can a pilot lock the door and keep a co-pilot outside the main deck? Or, is there any mechanism to avoid this from happening, like a password shared among pilot and copilot? I am very interested to know since this could help reducing passengers anxiety when they see the captain outside the main deck

Proper pilots never eat on an empty stomach!!! So unhealthy! So, always have something eaten before you sit down to eat!

My question is, how does a pilot deal with the stress and pain of being confined to a chair for 6 or 7 hours. I know that I find an economy class seat almost intolerable after only two. Business class is clearly different.

Where are all the shots of you in the cockpit coming from? Did you film that in a simulator, or did they let you do that while flying?

What airline are you working for? : )
Bartłomiej Rybka (1 month ago)
people who flying passneger aircraft are not pilots ! they are aircraft operators without any proper flying skills.real pilots fly jest fighters or acrobatic planes.
PATISLAV (1 month ago)
I think pretty much all of the pilots have previous experience from small planes that require full piloting skills.

If any of my pilots sleep during cruise, I'm so going to ask for a refund. I'm paying for them to look at the clouds for hours.
Innocent O. (1 month ago)
@jabloko992 ikr. Btw my pilot a couple of days ago went to the back of the small Boeing most likely to take a leak mid flight. I just remembered this video and laughed
jabloko992 (1 month ago)
No you're not, you're paying them to get you from point A to point B safely and they are doing just that. Pilots are a rare workforce so they get squeezed for flight hours. As the uploader said '...controlled rest ENHANCES safety quite a bit'. If a sleepy pilot was looking at the clouds for hours, guess what, he would fall asleep. They have irregular schedules and don't always get good sleep. They are humans just like us.

It's sad that pilots are so underpaid that they have to create YouTube channels with advertisements just to get by.

What about flights over 8 hours? Say Detroit to Incheon which takes 14 hours. What is it like being a pilot on flight like that? I am curious because these are the main flights I take.

I’m curious if you’re married. Somebody looks after the dogs when you’re away flying. You’ve got a lot going for you so I’m wondering what home life is like, and does the appeal (to your partner) of a pilot stay on?

im not a dog person, but those dogs are sooo cuuute

Honest question.... But can Pilots move around the aircraft during cruise? You know to stretch their legs. Another question.... Can a pilot bring his own food or drink aboard?
REP2 (3 months ago)
I was always told not to drink anything around electronics, how is it that pilots can drink around the flight controls , with so many electronics around. What would happen if he spills his coffee or soft drink(pop, soda) or even water onto the electronics. Are they waterproof? Does anyone know?
