just tried skiplagged.com to book.. it was $200 more that Kayak.. No thanks
rrrglynn (3 months ago)
I blame all these websites apps for why flying sucks so much today. The airlines have to follow the lowest possible prices to the cent with the competitors or else nobody will fly their airline. They are all forced to charge for everything to make money. From what I can see flying hasn't gotten any cheeper and it just sucks more and they charge for everything now.
Grateful graham (4 months ago)
Checked skip lagged and hopper both approx 30%, £60 to £80 more expensive (Uk to India) than googling a standard comparison price checking site. "Taking the risk and gamble out of the airline pricing game?" Maybe not!

Airlines making announcements about missing PAX: Must be someone who checked in an old case stuffed with NYTwit (New York Times) fish wrap to fool the airline that he was continuing to the next destination
Every time the airlines try to act smart and prevent passengers taking advantage of price glitches, the smart ones will learn (and pass around) a new trick

I wouldn't try this on a round trip. A lot of times if you don't show up for a leg of your flight, the airlines will cancel your entire itinerary.

Lol most flight staff have raspier voices because of damage to their vocal cords from over exposure of ionizing radiation during flights. Radiation exposure can reach 33 mRem for each hour above 10,000 feet from cosmic exposure. Fumes from jet fuel are also factored in too.

a friend and I took a trip from B'ham to Houston & skipped the 2nd leg of the trip to New Orleans cause we just wanted to vacation in Houston. Strangely enough a big storm came into the area as we landed in Houston & the 2nd leg was cancelled by the airline. My friend was refunded a great deal of our tickets because of this resulting in us getting a very cheap flight to exactly where we wanted to go. Yay us!

Also check nearby cities to one you plan to travel to. This is example it's cheaper and odlly makes more sense then other flights from South bend to new York instead of flying into new York fly into Newark new jersey and drive or ride into New York

Great! I hope it's as unpleasant for the airlines as they've made flying for customers. I've no sympathy their rip-off alorhythm's been compromised. Maybe losing their massive advantage over the consumer will push them to, in some way, make air-travel less horrible.
Chipwhitley274 (11 months ago)

emeraldsroses (11 months ago)
Getapetahome yes, it will. If it's on one ticket and you've checked in bags, then it will go to the final destination. Also you'll lose the return flight if you miss any leg of the ticket you've booked.

This was once called an "open jaw" flight in the 1970s and 1980s. Believe it or not IDs weren't checked back then and most tickets were fully refundable. In the example in the video, when you get off the plane in Los Angeles, you could go to the gate departing for San Diego and sell your Dan Diego leg ( for $100 for example) to someone San Diego bound walking up to the gate. You pocket the $100, they submitted their original ticket for a refund. Lots of people did it. When the chance to start checking IDs opened up the airlines were thrilled to pounce on it. Ended the practice that day.
Jared Worman (11 months ago)
why are you yelling at me
Andrew Lively (11 months ago)
Can't they just price it fairly. If they did that wouldn't they're not be away two game the system. And shouldn't they be giving the customer the best deal they can anyway.
duyanamelania (11 months ago)
Big thing he fails to mention in hidden city ticketing...if something happens to a flight, the airline will reroute you to your final destination via a different city....then what do you do? ex. buy a hidden city ticket to NYC but adding a leg to Bermuda...then the flight from NYC to Bermuda cancels and you find yourself going to MIA to Bermuda.
Kate Parker (11 months ago)
If you buy a ticket to a city you skip out on, how do you fly round trip? Do you book a separate return ticket from the city you actually intended to go to? Or do you try to hop on in the middle of a journey, the same way you hopped off? I feel like TSA wouldn't allow that...

Stephanie B (11 months ago)
question- don't they cancel the return trip if you miss your connection?
Swinde (11 months ago)
The reason people to do this is of course save money, but I think there is also the annoyance that the airlines are not billing passengers on a basis of the cost of the flight, but rather the popularity of the destination, for whatever reason. Back in the 80s there was a flight from Dallas, to St Louis via Memphis. The fare to Memphis was about a hundred dollars more, even though it was the first stop on the flight.
Addicted2baseball rgd (11 months ago)
I still think booking on Saturdays or Tuesdays and 10 months prior to trip is the best way to go. But I do appreciate any hacks to go along with this method.

Are "hidden city flyers" the reason we have to sit there and hear: "Paging passenger Edward Smith for XYZ Air flight to San Francisco" over and over? Delaying flights, costing the airline $1000 in extra gate charges, and inconveniencing all the other passengers, so that one person can save $100?
Vital Mark (7 months ago)
Phil Ollenberg or maybe the airlines should stop charging more for A to B flights than for A-B-C flights

A lot of companies don't allow that. If you are going one way you can go with no problem but if you need to return, they don't allow you to fly back
Thomas Baxter (11 months ago)
And this is why sh*t like United Airlines overbooking flight occurs
Yonas Getu (11 months ago)
Thomas Baxter overbooking occurs because Airlines sell more tickets than they have seats available. They do this because they figure people will not show up and they want to make as much money as they can per flight
Danielle Stager (11 months ago)
Thomas Baxter united wasn't even overbooked. it just needed 4 workers on the plane at the last minute.

If I were only listening to the guy's voice (and not actually watching the video), I would think he was a WWF wrestler.
dosmastrify (11 months ago)
this is a not a hack. the airlines will see that you did this deliberately and then charge you the price of flying to where you actually flew to. before they computerized everything you could get away with it, but in 2017 you will not win, the airline will. Google it, you will see that I'm right. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this was a five-year or more old segment

I once needed a flight from Panama City, Panama to Houston tx. one way direct was about $800. I thought that was pretty crazy. I started checking other places to go on vacation. I checked Panama City to Miami. flight was about $300, but I realized there was an option that allowed for a layover in Houston (the place I really wanted to visit) it was the same flight that costs $800 (same airline, same date, same flight). I booked the flight to Miami with the layover in Houston, arrived in Houston, picked up my bags (it was an international flight, you have to pick up your bags before you go thru customs and recheck them) and never got on the flight to Miami. we are a family of 4 so we saved about $1000. The biggest risk was if there was any weather/delays and the airline had to find a different flight for us they would have flown us to Miami.

Airlines are always overbooked because they know passengers always miss their bookings and failing to resell the ticket (even though the majority of consumers purchase non-refundable tickets) is a missed opportunity.

Lildizzle420 (1 year ago)
If you pay $200 for a plane ticket and save $100, now I can afford a hotel for 1 night plus dinner and I have a small weekend trip that boosts the airlines profits. If im charged the full $300 then im staying home and watching movies and not using the airline at all.
